I had surgery with Director Shin Hee-jin at EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery this January, and before I knew it, it’s already September, 8 months post-op! To briefly tell you my story first, my lower jaw started protruding little by little when I was young, and as it gradually got worse, I was teased by friends and became really self-conscious about it. Whenever I smiled or took photos, it felt like my chin was the first thing people noticed, so my confidence dropped, and I gradually became afraid of standing in front of people..! On top of that, chewing tough foods was uncomfortable, and it was hard to bite food off with my front teeth, so I was very stressed whenever I ate. As this kind of life continued, after I came back from the military, I strongly felt, ‘Now I really need to fix this,’ and eventually decided to undergo two-jaw surgery.
While looking into hospitals, I came across EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and there were many reviews, and above all, the director had a solid career background, so I trusted them. Likewise, when I went for a consultation, the consultant, nurses, and director were all kind and explained everything step by step, which put me at ease. The hospital facilities were also clean and systematic, so I thought I could trust this place and leave it to them. Everyone’s standards may differ depending on the individual, but compared with other hospitals, I found the price to be relatively reasonable. Oh, and!!! I live outside Seoul, and I also went for a consultation at a nearby orthodontic dental clinic, and they recommended EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery too, so I thought it really must be a well-known and proven hospital, and I finally chose this place!
And before I knew it, it has already been 8 months since my surgery. Now the swelling is almost all gone, and sensation has almost returned. I do feel like the skin around my jaw is sagging slightly, but it does not interfere with daily life at all, and I think this part will be fine with just a little management! The chewing discomfort I had before has completely disappeared as well. More than anything, I am so satisfied every time I look in the mirror because my jawline has become very natural, and my confidence has improved a lot too :) I used to think two-jaw surgery was simply scary, but after having it done, I can confidently say it was one of the best choices I’ve made in my life!
If there are people who are considering it, I hope you won’t keep putting it off because of fear. Rather, as more time passes, your quality of life changes so much that you may wonder why you didn’t do it sooner. I’m saying this because, thanks to it, smiling has become natural for me and I’m no longer afraid to stand in front of people!!!
