<Before surgery><Before surgery><After surgery><After surgery>I had jaw malocclusion since I was young, but I lived with it because I did not have major discomfort or pain. But from a few years ago, the condition became more severe, the clicking sounds from my jaw worsened, and pain developed, so the angle at which I could open my mouth became smaller than before. I could open it, but if I opened it any further, it hurt, so I finally decided to undergo double-jaw surgery after only thinking about it for a long time. While preparing for surgery, the first thing I thought was that since this surgery is known to be risky, I needed to find a place with a lot of experience and skill. That is how I came to know EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and as I read various reviews, I developed trust and requested a consultation. In particular, Director Shin Hee-jin personally consulted with me and explained everything in detail, which gave me a lot of courage. Week 1 (immediately after surgery ~ day 7) Right after surgery, I felt dizzy because of the anesthesia, and it was hard to breathe because my nose was blocked. The swelling was severe, so it was difficult to check whether the surgical result was good. On days 2 to 3, after the urinary catheter and the tube in my nose were removed, breathing became a little easier. Even after discharge, I still had swelling and pain, but they gradually eased with walking and icing. On days 4 to 7, the pain was still there, but I practiced wearing the wafer and gradually adapted. The swelling gradually decreased, and I recovered while slowly managing to sleep more. Weeks 2 ~ 3 The swelling started to go down a lot, and other than wearing the wafer, there was no major discomfort. I took walks within a reasonable range and gradually ate mainly broth and thin rice gruel. By week 3, I was able to take the wafer out briefly when eating, and I started mouth-opening exercises. It was frustrating that sensation in the palate was slow to recover, but it felt like it was gradually improving. Month 1 The swelling had decreased a lot compared with before, but swelling still remained around the philtrum and jaw area. The hospital also told me these were areas where recovery tends to be a little slower. From this period, I also started wearing braces on the lower teeth, and I did not wear the wafer in daily life, only while sleeping. Month 2 By month 2, the swelling had visibly decreased, but I still felt swelling and stiffness in some areas. I now wear the wafer only while sleeping and go without it in daily life. At first, it was hard to open my mouth and difficult to chew food, but now I have moved beyond thin rice gruel and can try porridge, soft rice, and broth-based meals. Sensation is gradually recovering, especially around the palate and chin tip. Before surgery, jaw pain and imbalance made eating uncomfortable, but now my jaw position has stabilized, the pain has greatly decreased, and my jawline feels more natural. I am also satisfied with the change in my face shape and the stabilization of my jawline, and because my face feels more balanced than before, I have gained confidence. Thanks to the meticulous care and explanations from Director Shin Hee-jin at EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, I was able to recover without major anxiety during the process before and after surgery, and I am very satisfied that my jaw and facial balance improved through double-jaw surgery.
