If there’s an inflammation-like smell after rhinoplasty, maybe it really is inflammation

It’s day 18 after my third surgery. In week 2, when they removed the silicone pad? the columellar support, there was a watery smell, but now there’s no smell at all. But with both of my previous failed surgeries, should I call it an inflammation smell? There was seriously some weird smell. It would come and go even a long time afterward. But at the time, they said there was no inflammation, and when I was looking into this revision surgery and getting consultations here and there, everyone said there were no findings suggesting an inflamed nose. But this time there’s no smell, and around this time my nose used to contract and the shape would collapse, but so far it hasn’t. It’s so fascinating. Some doctor had said that a stale smell can be normal if discharge builds up around the nose, so I thought that was it, but if the surgery is really done cleanly and well, I guess it’s normal not to have that ominous, strange smell. Anyway, even though the specific collapsed area from before hasn’t completely smoothed out, I have a good feeling this time. They said the sunken part and protruding part from where the nose collapsed are skin, so they aren’t the surgical area. Is that right? Since cartilage was inserted to create the shape, it has smoothed out about 90%, and it really improved a lot, but because it’s not perfect, I still keep feeling a little disappointed here and there. For so many years, I only blamed myself, wondering if my nose collapsed because I’m prone to scar tissue, or if I had a strong immune reaction to the foreign material. But maybe it was just a matter of the doctor doing the surgery well? The doctor who did my first surgery was also a Doctor of Medicine, and is still famous locally, so I really trusted their skill. What on earth was really, really the problem? Was it really because they removed too much septal cartilage and the support was weak, so it got pulled upward?
