Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews@jaw-review

1-month review after double-jaw surgery (IVRO) + 2 facial contouring procedures

<Before and after at 1 month>1. Why I decided to have surgery The biggest reason was my temporomandibular joint problem. Every time I opened my mouth, it would feel like something was catching as it opened, there was a bone sound, and it hurt so much when I yawned. I went to an oral medicine clinic and was told that because I had left it untreated for too long, even splint treatment could not get rid of the bone sound. That was the decisive moment when I decided to try surgery. For me, in terms of the reason, the functional aspect was bigger than the cosmetic aspect. 2. Recovery process and changes First, I had double-jaw surgery + 2 contouring procedures (square jaw, chin tip), and because of my temporomandibular joint problem, I chose the IVRO surgical method and had intermaxillary fixation for 2 weeks. Right after surgery, I felt so nauseated that I vomited and even spilled Greenbia on the blanket... I could not speak because of the fixation, and I needed a lot of help; in short, I was a difficult patient, but the nurses treated me so well without showing even a hint of annoyance, so I felt really sorry and grateful. It was my first time having suction in my life, and for me that was the most painful part,, But after it was done, my nose felt completely clear, so later I would brace myself and ask them first to do it for me! Strangely, from the day after I was discharged, the swelling became really severe. I also felt some heat, so I put on cooling patches? too. (Actually a really useful item!!!!) Maybe because I had my wisdom teeth removed at the same time, I even had severe bruising, but after 2-3 weeks it almost all disappeared. In week 2, I visited to have the stitches removed and also got swelling laser treatment. I had heard that stitch removal hurt a lot, so I went in really scared, but maybe because they were skilled, it was tolerable for me. At 1 month, I visited for a follow-up and to have the screws removed. They said the timing of screw removal differs from person to person. I said I wanted them removed because the screws had caused gum inflammation to the point where I could not eat. Fortunately, my upper and lower front teeth occlusion matched well, so we decided to remove them...! But for me, screw removal hurt much more than stitch removal... At 1 month, the sensation in my chin tip nerve has only come back about 40% so far. When I tap it, it feels like pressing on a numb area? I think it will gradually come back. Maybe because the surgical method was different, surprisingly everything except my chin tip is fine. 3. Satisfaction with the changes and thoughts First, functionally, I am so happy that my jaw no longer opens with that catching sensation and the bone sound is gone. Actually, the director said he could not be sure whether it would improve completely because it differs by person, so I was worried, but it is already effective, so I feel really good! Cosmetically, the swelling has not fully gone down yet, but I definitely look different from before. I had a slight underbite, and it has gone right in, which is fascinating, and my side profile is prettier too. These days, what I often hear is that my impression has become "softer" and "cuter" lol. Hearing that I have become gentler from a strong older-sister type impression somehow feels nice :) My thoughts at 1 month are,, intermaxillary fixation for 2 weeks was really, really, really hard! It is true that double-jaw surgery is more uncomfortable than painful. It is also a bit hard mentally and psychologically. Before surgery, I thought it would be fine because I was good at ventriloquism, but I could not do even the basics of ventriloquism. Not being able to talk for 2 weeks almost made me depressed lol. Still, I think the saying that happiness comes after hardship is exactly right. I live these days by looking in the mirror every day, thinking "I am still glad I did it," and enjoying admiring my face :)
