Since I was young, I had severe malocclusion, so chewing anything with my front teeth was really uncomfortable. Because I ended up not using my front teeth much, my teeth gradually became weaker. The functional discomfort was a problem, but I also had a pretty serious appearance complex because of the malocclusion. As a result, my self-esteem kept dropping..! Even when someone just looked at my side profile, I became self-conscious, and I gradually started hating taking photos. So honestly, double-jaw surgery was scary, but I hated continuing to live with such low self-esteem even more. I felt that if I didn’t change it now, I wouldn’t be able to, so I decided to have double-jaw surgery. After making the decision, I searched various hospitals, and since it was double-jaw surgery, I thought it was only right for it to be performed by an oral and maxillofacial surgery specialist who graduated from dental school. Since my most important goal was to properly correct my malocclusion, my priority was finding a hospital that performed surgery safely and well. Then I decided to have surgery with Director Kim Jong-yoon at an oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic that had many reviews and lots of positive responses haha. Right after surgery, honestly, it was really hard...;; It was difficult to breathe, I kept waking up while sleeping, and because my throat and the inside of my mouth were swollen, even swallowing water was difficult. But after 5–6 days, breathing got a bit better, and the swelling did start to go down little by little. Around day 7, my friends noticed right away that my face had changed! By weeks 2–3, my daily life gradually started returning to normal, and although my mouth still didn’t open well, I could eat soft foods little by little! After about a month, the swelling had definitely gone down a lot, and I heard so many people say my impression looked softer lol haha. Now that I’m 3 months post-op, I have no discomfort at all in daily life, and my lower-face complex has completely disappeared, so I’ve gained a lot of confidence haha. Now I feel confident even about my side profile, which I used to be desperate to hide, and since my protruding jaw and malocclusion improved, I feel much more comfortable psychologically :) Of course there were many difficult things after surgery, but if you have a lower-face complex, I was so satisfied with my experience at the oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic that I really want to highly recommend double-jaw surgery. Before I knew it, 4 months had passed since surgery, so I’m now in my 5th month. Right after surgery, I wondered why time was passing so slowly, but once the swelling went down and orthodontic treatment started, it definitely feels like time is going by quickly. People meeting me for the first time compliment me, saying it looks natural enough that they wouldn’t know I had double-jaw surgery, and friends who already knew me say my impression somehow looks better and something has changed, but they don’t know what, and they don’t realize I had surgery. So when I tell them I had double-jaw surgery, they’re surprised, which made me feel good. Not all the swelling is gone yet, but when I look at reviews, they say swelling can continue going down for up to 1 year, so I think I’m not even halfway there yet and I’m not impatient haha. And since I often hear that I’ve become better-looking, I’ve started wanting to take better care of my appearance, and mentally, I’ve become much more at ease. In the past, I only tried to hide my lower face, but now I don’t care even if someone sees me from the side, and I’ve actually become more confident haha. Those of you reading this are probably also worrying a lot because of your lower face. Just like I was 6 months ago. To those people, I sincerely want to recommend an oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic, and I want to say that with double-jaw surgery, the sooner you do it, the better! If you can live without caring about it, then that may be different, but the fact that you’re looking up reviews like this probably means it bothers you, doesn’t it? If so, if it’s surgery you’ll eventually end up having, I recommend choosing your hospital well like I did and getting it done properly without side effects, not at a plastic surgery clinic but at an oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic!
