It has already been 10 months since I had double-jaw surgery. When I first decided on double-jaw surgery, I had so many concerns because of the noises from my jaw, the jawline that looked long every time I took photos, and the fact that my front teeth were wearing down due to malocclusion. While carefully looking into it, I learned about EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and I decided to go ahead because I gained trust in the safety of the surgery. Right after double-jaw surgery, there were discomforts like swelling, dry lips, and a scratchy throat, but there was almost no pain, and as time passed I could feel myself getting better day by day. Especially when the swelling felt slow to go down, it was a bit frustrating, but eventually, after about 3 to 4 months, my facial line settled and gradually became more natural. Now, every time I look in the mirror, I think I’m glad I had the surgery. What I liked most of all was that my self-esteem really improved a lot. Before the surgery, whenever I took photos, all I could see was my jaw, and I was also self-conscious about my side profile, but now I feel confident from any angle. People around me also often say my face looks smaller and ask where I had it done, so that makes me feel even better. Now I can eat almost everything except very tough foods like meat, and I have no sensory issues or discomfort. Compared with before surgery, I’ve recovered to the point that there is no disruption at all to daily life. I still have orthodontic treatment left, but I’m eagerly waiting for the day it finishes. I’m also considering pin removal surgery, and since I’m truly satisfied with the results so far, I’m looking forward to that too! Now, 10 months later, not only my appearance but also my health has improved a lot, and most of all, I think the biggest change is that I’ve become confident when I smile. I sincerely hope that those considering double-jaw surgery can have good results like I did.
