I'm writing this after crying a lot because my heart feels so heavy....
I had surgery using septal cartilage and ear cartilage. I did not have osteotomy, and no implant was used.
Ultimately, I am thinking about complete removal.
The surgery itself was not done wrong. But I feel like my image changed in a subtle way. People say it did not change a lot, and it may even look better than before, but they are not sure. They say my original unique feel from before was nice, and now that it is gone, it feels like I became just very slightly prettier. It feels like I gained something and lost something, so it evened out, I guess.... It looks that way to me too. I feel like I changed from the image of myself that I knew. I do not know if I am prettier now, but even if I am, it is only very slight, and I just cannot get used to it. It feels like I gave up my natural image just to become slightly prettier and only made my nasal tip hard. I cannot get used to this face, and I also dislike the foreign-body sensation from the septal cartilage. I just miss my old self.
I had surgery at a hospital famous for noses. That director is also famous for revision surgery. A few days ago, I told him I wanted removal, and he seemed offended, asking why I would do that when it looks pretty. He showed me photos of my previous face and said, "Is this pretty? Now is pretty." I clearly did not say the rhinoplasty was done wrong. I just said it was hard to adjust because my image looked different to me and to people around me.... So he kept telling me to wait, that if I wait, it will become pretty.... I said I do not want to become prettier; I want to go back to before. Even if I was not pretty, I had never been told my nose was ugly, and I want my natural nose back, one I could touch and rub freely.... The director says revision can be done anytime and that it will return more than 90%. He said it was a very simple surgery.... He said it is not true that it has to be done quickly....that it does not matter when it is done, but doing it quickly is not good.... And he told me to wait patiently. But I think he is saying that because he thinks I want revision because of the shape or swelling... I heard that the sooner it is done, the more the previous shape comes back....Which is correct?
Even if it comes back no matter when it is done....I do not have the confidence to withstand the mental stress. Day by day, even when I am doing other things, I sigh because of my nose... I could not enjoy my entire vacation....I am wasting time.
In my case, would it be better to do the revision quickly? I want to do it quickly, but I am also scared that doing it too soon might cause side effects. And I have heard that if you are going to have revision, you should do it within one month or after 6 months....Is that objectively correct? Even when I call other plastic surgery clinics and ask, they all say to do it after 6 months... I think things like ear cartilage will all attach, making it worse....It seems like cutting through tissue that has nearly attached again. Wouldn't it be right to do it before it settles into place.....If anyone knows, please leave a reply.
