It’s now almost day 40.
I had a 4 mm L-shaped silicone implant removed and cartilage repositioning.
A lot of people ask about cartilage repositioning, but I think it’s really just a personal choice.
Even with my original bare nose, I had an upturned nose, so since I was going to have open surgery anyway, I thought doing repositioning while I was at it might correct the nose that had become even more lifted because of the silicone... During the consultation, they also said the nasal tip needed to be lowered (though I think they probably say that to everyone...). People around me and my family also agreed that the angle of my nasal tip needed to come down, so I thought about it and chose to do it. I’m satisfied with it now myself...
My wound-healing ability is on the slow side, so I had my stitches removed after about two weeks... Please take that into account when looking at this lol. Other people will probably heal faster than me.
The open-surgery scar is still red, but as it did before, I think the redness will gradually fade and turn whitish? and become less noticeable. There seems to be just a little swelling left at the nasal tip, but I think I’ll only know later whether this was swelling or not.
The repositioned area sometimes feels a bit awkward? but it’s gradually fading. That tingling feeling... like electricity passing through, or should I say like the feeling of stitches being pulled out... that kind of feeling is also happening at longer and longer intervals, and the intensity is gradually getting lighter too...
Back when I previously had silicone inserted, that surgery was also open surgery, and I had thick scar tissue toward the inner ceiling of my nose. But as the L-shaped silicone lifted my nose, all that scar tissue was visible... After repositioning and lowering the nasal tip, although my nostrils are triangular so the inside of my nose isn’t completely hidden, the scar tissue is much less visible than before... That’s one of the points...
Make sure you really look into your own nose before doing it... Because my nostrils are triangular... I went to many consultations, but at one clinic, they said I would need to take tissue from my scalp and attach it to the inner ceiling of my nose to increase the skin area and lower the nostrils... but I refused because I didn’t want to touch other areas like that. If I had wanted to increase satisfaction with the shape, maybe I would have done it... lol When I look at the surgical result while taking that kind of issue? into account, I think I’m even more satisfied.
Knowing in advance before surgery that various situations can happen and then checking the result, versus knowing nothing at all and checking the result after surgery... accepting it is a world of difference...
I think if you want to increase your satisfaction with the surgical outcome, you really need to get your nose diagnosed by many places...
Doctors aren’t gods either, so I don’t think it’s right to trust them too absolutely... (Well, I don’t think anyone here believes anyone absolutely... lololol)
Contracture phenomenon... Honestly, as someone who had repositioning, I don’t know. Whether it hasn’t come yet, has already passed, or won’t come at all... ㅠ I didn’t take any separate medication related to contracture.
Now that I’m entering the stable period, my visits to this community are becoming less frequent too... Stay strong..! And don’t waste time suffering emotionally. Everyone here is in their youth... It’s such a waste ㅠㅠ.. Don’t just worry; go to many clinics and get advice. I think that’s better than worrying alone and crying your eyes out...
