Since I was young, my jaw had always been a complex for me, and I always had low self-esteem because of my underbite. So as soon as I was old enough to have surgery, I decided to get double jaw surgery. For me, the reason I chose Iu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was that the clinic where I originally did orthodontic treatment had a doctor who directly introduced me to this hospital, saying they did a great job, so I trusted them and went straight to Dr. Kim Jong-yun for surgery. Day of surgery to week 1 I barely remember anything from the hospital room after surgery, and the hardest part was when I wanted to sleep but the anesthesia had not fully worn off. On the first night, I kept wanting to sleep but couldn’t, and I was worried because I had a little nosebleed too. On the second day, having the nasal packing in place was uncomfortable, and I kept going to the bathroom often. On the third day, after discharge, I had a headache, felt dizzy, and was bleeding, so I got help from the nurse. On the fourth day, my face was still swollen, eating was hard, and even swallowing pills was difficult. On the fifth day, the pain in my facial bones was severe, so I visited the hospital, and although the swelling had gone down a little, my nose looked wider. On the sixth day, I only ate beef-bone soup and porridge, so I had no energy.. My lips were dry, so I kept applying lip balm! On the seventh day, I was examined at the hospital, the swelling had gone down, but I still felt that the left side had recovered more. Week 2 I went for my two-week checkup and had the stitches inside my mouth removed. I was worried because there were many reviews saying it hurts, but other areas only stung and didn’t really hurt, while only the very last stitches near my lips hurt so much when they were removed that I teared up a little. I still could only eat tofu, steamed egg, porridge, and beef-bone soup, so it was really hard! Week 3 As I entered week 3, I could see that the bloodshot redness in my left eye was fading day by day. After the stitches were removed, I could eat a little more, and it became a bit easier to hook the elastics. I could now cut noodles with scissors and started being able to eat a little rice too instead of only porridge. After eating only porridge-like foods for so long, even ramen started tasting extremely spicy to me, and my appetite changed. At that point, my mouth still only opened enough to barely fit two fingers. Month 1 It was still not long since surgery, so there was still some widening of the nose, but from the side my nose looked higher than before. I had started to eat spicy food little by little, and could eat all kinds of foods including rice as long as they were not too heavy or extreme. Month 2 I could eat all foods unless the meat was extremely tough, and my original orthodontic clinic said it would be finished once the teeth were aligned just a little more. Compared with month 1, the swelling in my cheeks had clearly decreased even more, which made me very satisfied. Month 3 They say the swelling is almost gone by month 3, and that seems to be true because it is hardly visible now, and these days everyone around me keeps saying I’ve become so pretty and showering me with compliments!! It’s still only month 3, but the tingling sensation under my chin has almost completely disappeared, and if I ignore the area under my chin, it feels like all the nerves in my face have come back, so overall I’m satisfied with the double jaw surgery at Iu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery!
