*Today is day 17 since I had the ear cartilage, silicone, and hump (slight) from my nose surgery removed, 10 years after the original surgery. *Incisions were made inside both nostrils (closed approach) for the nose surgery/removal surgery
I’ve posted a few times before, so anyone who has read my previous posts may already know, but in my case, I didn’t really have any particular side effects or inflammation.
However, as time passed and my skin became thinner, my nose started to look more prominent on my face, and the cartilage part at the nasal tip became noticeable. (A horizontal split-like line) Also, under light, the straight line running down the bridge of my nose along the light reflection started to bother me.
After a long time thinking it over, I decided on surgery. To be honest, I wasn’t terribly worried at first, but after finding out about a community and reading various reviews, I started to worry that if the surgery wasn’t done properly, there could be side effects or other problems.
Thankfully, I gained courage from reading positive reviews from people whose surgeries went well, and with the thought that I didn’t want to be stressed about it anymore, I finally went through with it.
And so, goodbye to the nose that had been with me for 10 years...
1) Day of removal surgery: There was no swelling. I did cry a little because I felt sorry for myself. Why am I getting surgery again?
2) Removal days 2-3: The swelling reached its peak. My eyes wouldn’t open, and my face was hard to recognize. My cheeks were puffy too.
3) Removal days 4-5: The swelling starts to go down. Instead, as the swelling goes down, bruising remains in its place. The splint is removed on day 5. Until the splint is removed, there is the misery of that area being extremely itchy. I wanted to wash my face.
4) Removal days 6-7: You can go outside. But some swelling remains. Because the area between the eyes is still a bit swollen, as people often say, it’s the period of having the nose of that movie character (the one with the line “I see you”). If I don’t say anything, no one knows I had nose implant removal surgery. They just think, Did she cry? Or did she get Botox?
5) Removal day 10: From the outside, it looks completely fine. A very slight bruise remains.
6) Removal day 15 (today) Honestly, at this point, I don’t pay any attention to my nose. It’s true that the nasal tip is hard right now. But it’s only to the extent that if I focus on my nose, I think, Oh, it’s hard. It doesn’t interfere with daily life at all. I wonder if this is the contraction period other people talk about. From what I’ve seen from people further along, it seems to repeat between becoming soft and becoming hard. There’s no particular discomfort, though of course it would be nice if it became softer. There is a very faint bruise left on the bridge of my nose. A yellow bruise. I had been wearing BB cream. But honestly, I think it’s reached the point where it wouldn’t really matter even if I didn’t apply anything.
I’ll try to keep leaving updates going forward.
As for my current condition, compared with before I had nose surgery 10 years ago, first of all, the hump is gone. And despite that, after the removal surgery, as the swelling started to go down following the shape of the nose that had been raised, my nose shape actually became much better than it was in the past, at least for me.
It feels to me like all the swelling has gone down, but if subtle swelling continues to go down slowly until around 3 months, my nose might get a little smaller. haha
Anyway, this got long. I’ll try to leave another review again.
They do say that revision nose surgery or removal surgery definitely requires more attention than primary nose surgery. That said, I was told this surgery itself is absolutely not a difficult surgery (from the consultation at the hospital where I had it done), so I don’t think you need to worry too much.
I hope you get good consultations at clinics, gather courage, and have a successful surgery.
