I had always lived hearing that my face looked “broad and flat,” and that caused me quite a lot of stress. Every time I put on makeup, I would cover my cheekbones and square jaw with my hands and think, “If only they were even this much smaller, I wouldn’t wish for anything else.” It had almost become part of my daily life.. In my case especially, my square jaw was very prominent and angular, so it often made my impression look relatively strong…ㅠㅠ So whenever I saw people on the street or subway with round, small face shapes, I compared myself to them, my self-esteem dropped, and I even found myself lamenting, “Why was I born with such a big face?”.. When I looked into facial contouring surgery, I heard that since it is surgery involving bone, it becomes difficult to do as you get older. So I thought I might regret it in my 40s or 50s, thinking, “I should have had the surgery in my 20s.” In this one life, I strongly wanted to live more confidently so that my self-esteem would not drop further because of my face shape during the rest of my 20s and afterward, so I decided to have surgery. Honestly, at first I didn’t know much about facial contouring surgery. Also, because surgery that shaves bone carries risks, I had never even thought about it at all.. But by chance, an acquaintance of mine had two-jaw surgery + facial contouring surgery at a clinic, and I was told it went really well and received a recommendation. After hearing only positive things through that acquaintance, like “your life really changes,” I naturally started becoming interested in a surgery I had been too scared to even look up. That acquaintance also confidently recommended it, saying that when they were researching, “This hospital has never had an accident so far, and it is top in Korea for facial bone surgery,” so my trust gradually built up. In the end, I had a consultation, and thanks to the professionalism and detailed explanations shown by the consultant and the surgeon in charge during the consultation, I felt reassured and chose to trust that oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic. Day 1 was really hard from the moment I woke up from anesthesia. My throat was very scratchy, blood was flowing from my mouth and nose, and the nausea from the antibiotics made me mentally exhausted too. On day 2, the pain inside my mouth and the swelling became worse, and I felt anxious because the nosebleed would not stop, but I endured itㅠㅠ Days 3-4 were when the swelling was the worst, and the inside of my mouth hurt like right after wisdom tooth surgery. Pain, discomfort, insomnia, everything overlapped, so it was mentally difficult too, but when I touched the surgical areas, I could definitely feel that the bone was gone, so I could clearly feel the change, which was nice hahaha From days 5-6, the swelling gradually went down and the facial line started to show little by little, and my family also told me I had definitely changed, so even though it was hard, I felt proud. On day 7, I had the stitches in the cheekbone area removed. The inside of my mouth was still uncomfortable, but the change in my face shape definitely started to show hahaha!! In week 2, after the stitches inside my mouth were removed, eating and brushing my teeth became much easier, and the feeling of pressure also decreased a lot. I had almost no pain when the stitches were removed, so unlike how nervous I was, it was surprisingly easy!!!! From week 3, checking the swelling every morning became part of my routine, and I could feel my face gradually becoming naturally slimmer,, hahaha The cheekbone swelling had almost returned to normal, and it felt like only a very slight amount of swelling remained around the square jaw!! At 1 month, most of the swelling had gone down, and a much softer facial line appeared outwardly. People around me often asked if I had lost weight, so I was very, very satisfied with the natural change! At 2 months, the wounds inside my mouth had mostly healed, and there was almost no discomfort with eating or daily life! Around the square jaw area, the bone could no longer be felt, and every time I looked in the mirror, I realized how naturally and neatly my side facial line had been organized into a clean V-line.. I was impressed by the surgeon once again haha Especially because the protruding-looking side cheekbones were gone, I gained confidence when doing makeup and enjoyed it so much. Face retouching, which used to be essential, became almost unnecessary!! And now, at 3-4 months, sensation has almost returned and my face has truly become slim to the point where I do not feel any swelling. Of course there is no interference at all with daily life, and I am very satisfied because my impression has become much more feminine than before. My only regret is that I wish I had done it earlier. Feeling once again why that clinic is famous for bone surgeries like facial contouring or two-jaw surgery, I will end my review by saying that I think the surgeon is the best!!
