Originally, I was only going to get orthodontic treatment because of malocclusion! But they said there would be no improvement with orthodontics alone and that it was a surgical case, so I decided on two-jaw surgery, which I hadn’t been thinking about. After about 6 months of pre-surgical orthodontics, I had two-jaw surgery and 2 types of facial contouring surgery (square jaw, chin) at Y Oral Surgery at the end of October 2024, and I’m currently 6 months post-op! When people around me hear that I had two-jaw surgery, they always ask whether I regret having surgery, but I absolutely do not regret it. Rather, I feel proud of my past self for having the courage back then to decide to have surgery…! Since it’s a major surgery, I really worried a lot about whether it was right to do it, but I think having the surgery even one day earlier was truly the right choice. I’m currently 6 months post-op, and it really feels like the swelling goes down little by little as time passes! I had quite a lot of swelling after surgery, so I worried a lot, but it did gradually go down..! After surgery, people around me also often told me that something looked different and that my face seemed smaller! I like that, at first glance, it isn’t very obvious that I had two-jaw surgery. Right now, there’s no major problem with daily life, but there’s still swelling inside my mouth…? remaining, so that’s uncomfortable. Since I’m still in orthodontic treatment too, I think it may get better after a little more time passes…! Right now I do wonder whether the swelling still hasn’t fully gone down, but I think this is fat…ㅎㅎ Still, I’m satisfied with the current post-surgery result!
