It’s already been almost a year since I had double-jaw surgery. Time really flies, and now it feels so natural and comfortable that I almost forget I even had surgery. My face has settled so naturally that people around me don’t notice at all unless I tell them first. I had orthodontic treatment once in high school, but my jaw gradually became misaligned, my front teeth started to spread apart, and I began having pain in my temporomandibular joint. Because my jaw was asymmetrical, whenever I smiled or took photos, one side always looked more protruded, and I was really stressed about finding the right angle when taking selfies ㅠㅠ At first, I considered getting orthodontic treatment again, but after consultations at several clinics, they said that in cases like mine, where the jawbone lengths are different on both sides and the asymmetry is severe, it is difficult to resolve with orthodontics, and double-jaw surgery was the answer.ㅠㅠ In the end, I had double-jaw surgery together with two facial contouring procedures (square jaw + chin) haha Right after surgery, of course there was swelling and some awkwardness, but as time passed, it improved noticeably. Especially between months 3 and 6, the muscles around my mouth relaxed a lot, so my expression became more natural when smiling, and as my occlusion stabilized, almost all discomfort went away. haha Now that a year has passed, my face shape has really changed a lot and my occlusion has improved too! I often hear that my face looks smaller, and I no longer feel stressed when taking selfies haha Before, I always covered my jaw or cared a lot about photo angles, but now I don’t need to do that, so I’m really happy. Before surgery, I was very scared and had a lot of worries, but now I actually think I should have done it a little sooner. Of course, it is a major surgery and requires a recovery period, but I think you gain just as much from it. Especially if you have asymmetry plus temporomandibular joint problems like I did, I think it is an option worth seriously considering. hahaha If anyone is considering double-jaw surgery, I hope you consult with several clinics and make a choice that suits your own situation. I’m truly satisfied, and it was a decision I don’t regret. Now I’m doing so well that I don’t even think about the discomfort I had before anymore. I think it’s really true that things settle naturally over time..!!!
