If only the silicone is removed while leaving the septal cartilage + cartilage in place, will only the bridge of my current nose become lower?
It has been a little over 7 weeks since my surgery, and it was a revision surgery. For my first nose surgery, silicone + ear cartilage were used, but the glabella was made too high, and maybe because my skin is thin, the nasal bridge/glabella area looked red. Because the glabella became high, it gave a slightly long-nose impression.
After that, 1 year and 6 months passed, and I had revision surgery again. The revision surgery was done to improve 1. the slightly drooping nasal tip by lifting it a little, 2. the redness of the nasal bridge/glabella, and 3. lowering the glabella height, and septal cartilage, ear cartilage, and silicone were used.
The result is that the nasal tip went up severely and is not coming down. The nasal bridge is still red. (What I felt after the two surgeries is that the reason the bridge is red seems to be a show-through phenomenon because my skin is thin.) I heard that during surgery, the silicone for the nasal bridge/glabella raised it by about 1.7 mm. On top of that, since last Friday, something hard like a bump on the nasal bridge swells up and then disappears again within 30 minutes to 1 hour, and this keeps repeating.
When I went to the hospital, they said that because they could not directly see and touch it when it was swollen, they could not know from photos alone, and that it was not a side effect, and told me to keep watching it.
Looking at this situation, I think the redness of my nasal bridge/glabella and this swelling phenomenon mean that silicone is not suitable for me. Also, the foreign-body sensation, as if something has been placed on my nose, is severe, so I want to remove the silicone. Sometimes I also have a sharp aching feeling.
And every time I complained about the nasal tip, the director had spoken in a tone like, “The nasal tip will definitely come down, it has only been 7 weeks, why are you making such a fuss?” But suddenly that day, he said, “Do you like the shape of your nose? If not, what part? It seems like you have been talking about the nasal tip since before, so if you don’t like it, I will operate again after 3 months.” I did not like that attitude either. If he had been confident all along, he should have said that day too that it would come down if I waited, but maybe he also realized the seriousness, because he brought up the nasal tip first. Now my trust is gone too, and I feel anxious about entrusting another removal surgery to a doctor who speaks about everything half-heartedly, as if it is a bother.
To summarize, what I am most curious about is: Because my nasal tip is very high right now, I want to ask them to lower the nasal tip while removing the silicone. In that case, whether there are concerns about side effects, how the shape might change, how long swelling usually lasts, when the appropriate timing for surgery is, and whether contracture can occur even with silicone removal alone.
