I had gone to several consultations before about removal-related surgery and had posted about it too. I had the removal surgery on the morning of 9/10, and today I went to have the splint removed~
Three years ago, I had surgery to shave down a dorsal hump and used ear cartilage + septal cartilage + about 1.5 mm silicone. I had planned to have surgery without silicone, but during the operation the doctor woke me up and said it would be better to put at least a thin piece in, so I hesitated and had it put in. I naturally had stiffness and that kind of thing in the septal cartilage, but since I’m not a very sensitive person, I just lived with it. Still, since I already had a bridge to begin with, and maybe because silicone was added to that, I didn’t like that it looked surgical and seemed visible, so I ended up having it removed.
The original hospital said they do not handle removal, and after consulting at several places, most of them recommended revision surgery, which made me hesitate, but in the end I decided to have the surgery at a place that only does removal.
While going to consultations, they told me that because I had placed the septal cartilage in an angled way like ∠ at the nasal tip portion and the columella portion, it was fixed very well, but probably made it stiffer than other people. I just thought everyone’s was like that anyway
At the hospital I decided on for the surgery, they said they could remove everything if I wanted, but since my original nose already had a dorsal hump + slightly drooping tip, they recommended leaving the septal cartilage in the columella part. After debating between total removal and partial removal, I ended up leaving the columella part and removing the silicone, ear cartilage, and part of the septal cartilage~
The photos are from before surgery, after surgery, and today on day 2 after removal, after the splint was taken off~ Because it was done as an open procedure, all that’s left now is going back the day after tomorrow to have the stitches removed.
I just hope it heals well without inflammation or scarring I hadn’t really thought about contracture or anything like that, but after seeing reviews here, I got a little worried because people also mentioned things like a contraction phase..
