If you get orthodontic treatment...

Originally, the purpose of my orthodontic treatment was to treat temporomandibular joint disorder. It was hard to open my mouth wide, and the clicking sound every time I opened it was scary. When I went for a consultation, they said they could also correct my slightly protruding mouth shape, so I was tempted and started a long, long journey. Since I chose lingual orthodontics, I think it was more expensive too. If you start orthodontics for temporomandibular joint disorder, in the early stage you have to go around wearing something like a mouthpiece, and it was really hard. While wearing the mouthpiece, your facial shape changes slightly (I also lost weight then, so I looked a bit strange), and you have to endure that period well. I had to take my graduation photos during that time, so it was very painful ㅜㅜ Since my teeth were not that noticeably protruded, the orthodontic period wasn’t long, but when I removed the braces, I was so happy and relieved to finally end the uncomfortable life that I don’t think I even paid attention to how effective it was. I didn’t feel that my temporomandibular joint improved much in particular. And for protruding mouth correction, as long as it doesn’t harm dental or maxillofacial health, I think it’s good to correct it slightly more than the level you want. As time passes, it comes back again.
