I had posted a few reviews of my nose removal surgery, and today marks one month since the surgery. I went to the hospital and had my final conversation with the doctor. With the words that I no longer need to come in, I’m now saying goodbye to the hospital.
I had rhinoplasty 10 years ago and had lived well without any particular problems. But starting about 2 years ago, my skin gradually began to thin, and it seemed like the ear cartilage at the nasal tip was becoming clearly visible. In fact, the straight silicone implant and ear cartilage could be seen with the naked eye as being separated, so after quite a lot of stress, I finally decided on removal surgery.
I came to know about a community and was able to read various reviews. I also learned about side effects that can occur during removal surgery, and I did get a little scared, but I gained strength from posts by people who shared positive reviews and found the courage to complete the surgery successfully.
I went to the hospital where I had rhinoplasty 10 years ago and had the nose removal surgery. During the removal consultation, they did recommend revision surgery, but when I had made up my mind to remove it and said I wanted removal surgery, unlike my worry of “Will the surgery be difficult?”, the doctor didn’t say much, so I also felt reassured that it wasn’t such a major surgery as I had worried.
When I had the surgery, they used both sedation and local anesthesia, and later when I came back to my senses, I felt that my body was so cold. It was summer, the air conditioning was very strong, and it was so cold during the surgery. But a nurse held my incredibly cold hand, so I felt comforted and finished the surgery. Right after the surgery I thought, what am I doing, really lol. I shed a few tears too. Fortunately, I did not have pain after the surgery.
On the day of surgery there was no swelling, on days two and three the swelling reached its peak, and at one week the splint was removed. There was yellow bruising left, but the large, noticeable swelling had gone down, so I walked around outside freely. By ten days after surgery, except for very faint bruising, it wasn’t noticeable at all. From then on, I lived looking completely normal.
I don’t know if it’s because I did not have surgery due to inflammation, but fortunately I am not experiencing nasal tip upturning or other phenomena that many people are worried about. My original nose was not an upturned nose either. Ah, and my nose now is not as soft as my old nose, but I am not stressed about that at all. They said that after a few months the nose will become softer than it is now, and if that happens it would be really nice, but even if it doesn’t, I don’t think it will be a problem at all.
Compared with before I had nose surgery, my nasal tip has become a little plumper and higher. Personally, I really like it. I think it’s good because my nose is on the thinner side (by my standards).
They said I should allow about 3 months for even the wounds inside the skin? to fully recover, so I’ll try posting reviews after another 2 or 3 months.
Because I decided on removal after ten years, and because it was surgery done a long time ago, I worried there might be various difficulties with cartilage adhesion or recovery, so it was not an easy decision to make before surgery. I’m posting this thinking of anyone who, like me, had surgery a long time ago, or anyone who had the same surgical method. I hope everyone stays strong and gets good results.
