I had surgery 16 days ago with a septal support graft, ear cartilage, and 3.5 mm silicone.. I went for a removal consultation because of psychological distress.. The nasal tip cartilage is also showing through. For removal, I first met the director at the hospital where I had surgery and had a consultation. When I asked whether my nose would be ruined if I had everything removed, he didn’t answer, and instead explained by drawing a picture of how it would change if the silicone was removed.. He didn’t mention the cartilage. So I asked again what would happen if the septal cartilage and ear cartilage were removed, and he looked like he had a headache, and asked why I was trying to remove them.. I said the ear cartilage at my nasal tip is showing through. It’s worse under the sun. Then he said that it isn’t the ear cartilage showing through, and because they don’t insert the ear cartilage directly but cover it with something like fascia first and then insert it, it’s the fascia showing through. He said that right now cartilage is absolutely not showing through, and that it’s fascia showing through. He also said the fascia will be absorbed later. He said my skin is thick now, so the ear cartilage isn’t showing through, but I did think that if my skin gets thinner later, it could show through. I kept saying I wanted not only the silicone but also the ear cartilage removed, so it moved toward removing the ear cartilage too, but he completely set aside septal cartilage removal... I asked what would happen after removing everything, but he didn’t tell me. And when I asked whether removal has to be done within one month after surgery or after six months, he said that isn’t the case. He just said that between one and two months, scar tissue and hardening of the flesh are at their worst, so avoid that period. And originally people’s alar cartilages are slightly spread apart, right? He said that if the ear cartilage placed on top is removed, that area could look spread apart. But since I knew even before surgery that my alar cartilages were spread apart (so slight that only I could notice), I told the director I already know they were originally spread apart.. and asked if they would spread more than before. He said they wouldn’t spread more than originally, and because they were tied, they might even look less spread apart.. I don’t know if that’s fortunate.. but hearing they were tied worries me.. I originally have a bulbous nose, but maybe because we didn’t discuss bulbous nose correction before surgery, even after surgery it’s not exactly like before but still almost similarly bulbous. I’m scared what shape will come out if the ear cartilage placed on top is removed ㅠㅠ... Will only the tied area stick out pointily from the bulbous nose, or become sunken? I’m scared it won’t be my gently rounded bulbous nose, but will become depressed or bumpy. At least fortunately, they say they didn’t shave the bone and didn’t cut out the alar cartilage... But during surgery, the director came in almost at the end, so I keep worrying and feeling suspicious about what the operating room nurses touched and how before that.. whether they cut the cartilage to make the work easier.. whether they shaved the bone.. When I briefly woke up from anesthesia, I felt a female nurse scraping my nose hard. From the soundㅠ The sound of a woman grinding while saying, “Ah, it isn’t going in well,” and talking about this and that with another female nurse. Because my emotions are unstable, I feel like I’m suspecting people too much, and I hate myself like this.. After consulting with the director, I consulted with the consultant because of the price.. They told me the surgery preparation cost would be 330,000 won.ㅠ Since it hasn’t been long since surgery, they said they would normally have to charge around 1 million won, but they would charge less..ㅠ Maybe because I’m not in the position of removing it because there’s a problem, I even felt grateful. When I asked the consultant whether there had been people like me who removed it not long after surgery for psychological reasons, she said that among the people she had consulted so far, there hadn’t been anyone yet. But she said there are many people who remove them, though she doesn’t know the reasons. Since I was so anxious about whether I could go back to my original appearance, the consultant said I’d be better off not being anxious and just having everything removed. She said because it hasn’t been long for me, complete removal is possible.. But I thought that consultants mostly consult early on because of pricing, so they probably haven’t seen what people look like after complete removal, and then I wondered, what if I listen to the consultant, get everything removed, and end up in an irreversible situation?... And with the director, should I say he avoided talking about septal cartilage removal.. He completely set it aside.. Is there a reason? Or is it because the surgery would become complicated and bothersome?... I really don’t know how to decide. For now, the hospital staff treated me kindly, so I got some emotional comfort.. The director was busy too, but even though it was a forced smile, he tried to smile while consulting with me. However, they said that if I have removal surgery, since I’m removing it because I want to, I have to sign a written pledge saying there will be no revision surgery afterward. They said if I do it, they’ll schedule surgery for next week, but my parents are strongly against it because they’re afraid my nose will be ruined after removal.. I can feel that they’re afraid of seeing their daughter remove it and have her nose ruined and collapse, so I feel really guilty and depressed..
