22 years ago, I went to a plastic surgery clinic just to get my eyes done, but absurdly, the clinic sold me on it and I ended up putting 1 mm of silicone in my nasal bridge too. (I wonder if there’s another pushover like this..ㅜ I originally had absolutely no intention of doing my nose lol ㅜㅜ)
Because I had an operation I didn’t even want, I hated having to live constantly anxious about things like the foreign-body sensation from the silicone, not being able to make a pig nose, and whether the silicone might show through when I went somewhere bright. I desperately wanted to remove it again and again, but at the time, the local anesthetic injection in my nose had hurt so, so much, and I was afraid my impression would change after removal, and so on, so I spent a whopping 22 years unable to work up the nerve to remove it lol ㅠ The decisive moment was a few years ago, when I was in poor health and went somewhere for acupressure treatment, and after my nasal bridge was hit hard, it even started moving. The stress became enormous, so starting exactly a year ago I seriously searched the internet, and encouraged by the fact that sleep anesthesia had become common in the meantime, I went to hospital consultations and looked into variables and side effects after removal. This time I finally gathered the courage and had it removed.
Although Busan is medically lacking compared with Seoul, since removal surgery doesn’t make much money, I visited several hospitals and tried to find a doctor who would do it as sincerely as possible, and I scheduled it for the off-season when the hospital was quiet. I met a doctor I liked fairly well, but of all things, this doctor performs surgery under local anesthesia.. What kind of joke of fate is this lolㅠ But fortunately, compared with the anesthesia long ago, it really didn’t hurt much... The doctor also took care to inject it as slowly as possible. lol
When the silicone was actually being removed, the doctor seemed to be struggling with something.. Then I felt the silicone that was coming out snap off.....; I was trembling with anxiety and fear, wondering whether the remaining silicone would come out cleanly. After quite a while, when the rest came out, the doctor immediately fitted the two silicone pieces together and showed me, explaining that holes had been made in the silicone, so it had adhered tightly and removal took a long time, and that the part with one of the holes had torn.. But that everything had come out cleanly.. That reassured me. And the doctor put a mirror in my hand and told me to look at my nose.. Before surgery, I had asked whether, since I didn’t know if my nose had been rasped, they could show me with a mirror after removing the silicone. The doctor said my nose would be swollen anyway, so I wouldn’t be able to tell even if I looked, so I didn’t expect it..ㅜ Well, in the end, just as the doctor said, it was already swollen, so looking or not looking made no difference. lol Anyway, I was grateful to the doctor.
Also, since my silicone was old, I was worried it might have calcified, so I asked during the preliminary consultation. The doctor said a calcified nose shows slightly bumpy signs even just from the outside, and even if it had calcified, it wouldn’t interfere with removal. I really had no calcification at all. Instead, I suffered because of the unexpected variable of holes in the silicone.ㅡ ㅡ
And yesterday I removed the tape. After reading many people’s reviews, I had tried to steel myself for the visual shock when the tape came off, but honestly, I can’t help not being used to it.ㅠ When the silicone was put in, the doctor said a 1 mm difference was huge, and it really is.. lolㅠ I think it’s also because it’s been 20 years, so my memory of my old nose is hazy. (Those planning to remove it, please hurry and remove it while you still remember.) Anyway, when I had the silicone, my overall image felt a bit more sophisticated, but now it’s innocent-looking.. lol
And since during the first surgery they had spent a long time poking around the nasal bridge area, what I was most worried about was whether the nasal bone had been rasped. The upper-middle part of my left nasal bridge, toward the center of the nose, looks a bit more hollow than the right side. This was also an area that had looked slightly bumpy even when the silicone was in. According to the removal doctor, it seems that when the old silicone was inserted, the inner skin? may have been injured during dissection, but when I touch it, the skin there also seems thinner than other areas, and when I move the skin side to side, that area moves, so it seems more like a skin issue than bone. Actually, right now there is bruising and swelling, so I’m not sure exactly. I’ll have to watch it a little longer.ㅠ Anyway, right now, because of the bruising overall, my face looks grimy, so I look even uglier lol ㅜ
Still, the sense of freedom from having no foreign material inside this nose is truly beyond words.
This isn’t a particularly special review, but when I was searching all over the internet for removal information, I remember it was so hard to find cases like mine, where it had been a long time or where only the nasal bridge had been done with silicone. So I’m posting this in case it can be even a little helpful to anyone like me.
