-I took the photos down. Poof!
I was debating whether to post a photo review, but I got a lot of information from this community and I also had such a hard time emotionally, so I’m posting mine too! After having it removed, it turned out to be nothing... I keep wondering why I struggled so much over itㅋㅋㅋ What I felt so painfully is... from now on, no matter what, I’m not putting a knife to my face again ㅠ_ㅠ.. I think almost everyone who has had removal probably feels this wayㅋㅋㅋ But if you carry such a serious psychological burden and pressure to the point of wanting to die, I think you’re the only one who loses outㅠ_ㅠ.. Of course, it’s not as easy as saying it. I read all the way to the last page of this community, and that’s how much I worried, “Why did I do this?” and “What if I can’t go back to my old nose?” I only read removal reviews and the nose removal forum! I think I only got halfway through the rhinoplasty forum, and I googled every single dayㅋㅋㅋㅠㅠ As for taping... in this weather, I was worried my skin would get irritated, so I removed it on day 2! My skin is much worse than other people’s, so I was worried the tape would cause irritation ㅠ.ㅠ... My face is super oily in the photos too, so please go cleanse your eyes somewhere else afterwardㅋㅋㅋㅋ
My nose had a bulbous-nose tendency, was slightly spread out to the sides, had a nasal bridge, and from the front it was exactly a triangular-shaped nose + my facial asymmetry is somewhat severe.
First photo 1 - silicone in my nose and alar cartilage tied 2 - Front view 3 - Day 2 after removal. I took the taping off early. Because of the weather, my mom told me to take it off, saying I might scar while removing the tapingㅎㅎ The oiliness is no joke.. ㅠㅠ 4 - Front view
The second photo is today, day 3 after surgery. I took it right after waking up in the morningㅎㅎ I think the photos make it look way too broadㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ It’s not that much in real life ㅠㅠ I think it looks lower than it actually is.
[My first surgery was closed, and the removal was also done closed]
When I was young, I had an osteotomy at Tai ENT + in 2009, silicone and alar cartilage tying with Dr. Yoo ○○.
I had originally written about another doctor at length too, but looking at it now, that doctor slightly shaved my nasal bridge without my consent, which made me angry, so I deleted that part^^ I think it’s right to write only the review for Dr. Guk Won-seok^^
I had the removal done by Dr. G.W.S.! When I first went there, I had gone for a consultation, but there were so many funny moments beyond just talking that it was hilariousㅋㅋㅋ The manager was also so nice, and the doctor looked much younger than his photos online, so as soon as I went in I said, “Oh? Your image...” and he said, “What about my image?” so I said, “Online you look kind of gentlemanly and serious, should I say? But you look youngerㅋㅋㅋ” and he laughed a lotㅋㅋㅋ Also, his hair was kind of lifted, so I asked, “Doctor, did you style your hair like that? With wax?” and Dr. Guk brushed his hair back and said, “I have my own secret method, haha,” so it was a funny consultation from the first day. Thinking back now, I wonder why I was curious about Dr. Guk’s hairstyleㅋㅋㅋ The doctor also pointed things out very clearly. He was confident my nose absolutely would not lift. He advised that the cartilage did not need to be untied, and told me there would not be much difference even after removal. When I went to consultations elsewhere (I brought photos from before the osteotomy to the consultations), they said it might lift or it might not, that cartilage repositioning was needed, and that if I wanted to untie the alar cartilage tying I could, and if not, I didn’t have to. But Dr. Guk’s confidence felt like the kind of confidence that only comes from someone with a lot of experience? Should I put it that way? And after actually removing it, it really didn’t lift at all, haha.. More than anything, I was really disgusted by the reality in Korea where doctors finish residency and then immediately work at hospitals while patients become practice cases, and I hated that they don’t touch research at all and practice on people. But Dr. Guk compares surgical cases and posts them on his website, and that drew me in more than anything. (I was so worried that I searched everything, back when I was severely stressed because of my noseㅠㅠ) Anyway, the hospital atmosphere was really good, and the nurses were so nice.. Above all, my mind felt truly at ease, and that was a big reason I chose G.W.S. Plastic Surgery. Before surgery, I said the osteotomy I had when I was young bothered me a little, so he said he would check again, looked inside my nose, and told me the support structure was still there as it was, so it was fine ㅠ_ㅠ He wrote down all the things the patient was worried about in the chart, and after surgery he even came out to the front desk and asked me, saying, “I heard it hurts a lot, haha.” Also, they ask removal patients to answer a survey by KakaoTalk. I thought they don’t just end it at removal, but probably use the survey statistics to research and improve further. And during consultation, if the hospital wanted to charge more, they could have told me to untie the cartilage, but he said there was no need to untie the cartilage in my nose and to leave it alone, which I really likedㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Honestly, for people looking into removal consultations, I want to recommend that you have removal with Dr. Gukㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I said I was worried it might lift if I didn’t untie the cartilage, and he said alar cartilage does not determine height. Thinking about it, that’s true. Tying cartilage is about whether or not to narrow the width on both sides, so why was I worried about lifting.. There is a lot of incorrect information online, so if you have misunderstood things like I did, please make sure to consult a specialist! No matter how much information you get online, I don’t think any of it is actually practically helpfulㅎㅎ It just seems like enough to understand superficially, like, “Oh, it’s like this or like that.”
It’s only day 3, and I’ll know more once the swelling goes down further, but I think I’ll only post another review much later. I hope everyone who is worried and everyone with surgery coming up all have good results! Yawning is nice because once I removed the taping, I can do it comfortably. When I yawn, my nostrils also get bigger, so I was worried the incision inside my nose and the sutured area might open up, but I don’t feel anything + Until day 2, when I lay on my side or bent forward, I felt a pulling/rushing sensation, but by day 3 it’s almost gone. I want the swelling to go down quickly so my nose can look slimmer.
