Today I showered and washed my hair to go to the hospital (the trick to keeping water from splashing on your nose is to tilt your neck backward..) Still, I was worried that the humidity might be bad for recovery, so I opened the door and washed as quickly as possible with lukewarm water.
Today I was a little surprised when I woke up. There was a bit more swelling around the glabella, so I thought, oh, it’s swollen? When I asked the nurse who did my dressing at the hospital, she said it swells a lot until the third day. But she also said that I am on the less-swollen side. She disinfected everything carefully, and while I was looking in the mirror, the doctor appeared~
Then he explained while showing me my implant and photos taken after opening my nose during surgery, showing what condition the inside of my nose was in. (I remember everything, even the photos being taken during surgery.) The implant was Gore-Sili, or what was called Silitex at the time, something that is not used much these days. The decisive reason my nose developed a problem was that the Gore-Tex was flesh-colored, so I only paid attention with the naked eye to how my nose shape had changed back to looking the same as before surgery, and I didn’t realize the Gore-Tex had protruded inside my nose. Then inflammation gradually developed. That was early this year. If I had gone to the hospital even then, the result might have been different, but they said that now, that implant had been just about to pierce through the tissue. So the doctor said it was more serious than expected and that starting today, I should begin taking medication to prevent contracture? (I bought it, and the name is Lukio.) Also, he said the septal cartilage that had previously been placed on the columella was used in a very small amount and had settled well, so he intentionally left it there. (During the consultation right before surgery, he had been worried and said that if any other material had been used together, it absolutely had to be removed.) Then he taught me how to massage. Because I have a short nose that is lifted a lot + to prevent the tissue from hardening, he taught me in which direction and with what degree of pressure I should massage. Since the condition was quite serious, he said that after watching my recovery, the likelihood that costal cartilage would be needed has become a little higher. I thought the stitches would be removed today, but they weren’t ㅜㅜ eeng
I really like that the doctor doesn’t give false hope and speaks kindly but honestly. There are a lot of inquiries about the hospital. Is it okay if I write only the consonants? It’s ㅂㄴㅂㄱ~ I had nostril base reduction surgery at this hospital about 7 years ago with the current director (ㅇㅎㅌ), and this time, because the implant I had placed at another hospital about 10 years ago went wrong, I immediately ran to this doctor. I also saw that the Gore-Sili removal was done cleanly. Now there will probably be a period of patience while I recover and wait for revision surgery. For cost inquiries, I’ll send them by message~ Thank you to my fellow people who comforted me and said it must have been hard ㅜㅜ I hope everyone who is recovering like me, or is planning removal and having a headache over it, can all stay strong together!!
