After lurking for months, now that I’m actually writing this, I don’t know how to start. The intro is seriously freaking long. I’m sitting here alone with bandages on, after looking through Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, with nothing to do, so I came back to this community after a long time and I’m writing this like a diary. If that bothers you, you don’t have to read it >.<
First, the surgery I had was: 4 mm nasal bridge implant, nasal tip cartilage binding, use of septal cartilage, shaving a hump..? They said they’d sand it down.
First of all, I had a bulbous nose!! It wasn’t an ugly nose, and my nasal bridge wasn’t exactly low either. It was a nose that could be covered well enough with contouring. Of course, that was strictly by my own standards. But anyway, after becoming a college student, I became so obsessed with my appearance. Should I call it an appearance slump..? Whenever I looked in the mirror, my face looked huge, and all I could think was, “If I just shaved down my face a bit, it would be fine.” My eyes are at least on the bigger side.. I also have double eyelids. But because of my big face, I thought they looked small ㅠㅠ So I was thinking about facial contouring, and among the people around me there was an older girl who had briefly worked at a plastic surgery clinic, so I asked her. But she said my head shape was just a bit large, and my cheekbones or jaw weren’t protruding, so I’d probably just get severe sagging cheeks and not much effectㅠㅠ sob sob, Dad,,ㅠㅠ Anyway, after hearing that honestly, my desire for facial contouring disappeared,, or so it seemed, but then that desire moved to my nose. Actually, in January 2016, I had a MISKO procedure at another clinic. My nasal tip went back to how it was originally, but (that’s how procedures are! Still, I was really satisfied, and if I went back to that time, I’d do it again.) So I was only thinking about cartilage binding or alar reduction. My nasal bridge wasn’t originally low, and there was still a little filler left. So I went to the clinic only thinking about nasal tip surgery. That clinic was where my friends, who always emphasized safety, had their double eyelid surgery, so I just went without really looking into it much. And I’m also the type who absolutely prioritizes safety, safety, safety above everything, so I only checked online that they had an anesthesiologist on site and only board-certified plastic surgeons, and then I just went. My dad is also a doctor (not a plastic surgeon, he’s a country doctor ㅠ), and anyway I remembered him telling me that if I was going to do it, I should go somewhere where a board-certified plastic surgeon does it... First of all, the clinic atmosphere was really, really nice. At the clinics I’d gone to before, the front desk staff or consultants felt too intimidating, or they didn’t even greet me when I came in.. They acted like they didn’t see me. But at this clinic, everyone was kind, and there weren’t many people! I liked that it didn’t feel like a factory. Also, the doctor was so.. ha, so gentle..ㅠㅠ I felt it during the consultation too, but three days before surgery, when he gave me the injection to dissolve my filler, he said he was sorry for hurting me ㅠㅠ even though it didn’t hurt ㅠㅠ Anyway, he was so kind and attentive that I trusted him. Anyway, I had consultations with the manager and the nose specialist doctor. When I mentioned the nasal tip, they said my cartilage was spread out, so if they did cartilage binding, used septal cartilage to support it like a tent, removed fat, and shaved down the slight hump, the surgery would improve it a lot. But they said skin thickness absolutely cannot be improved, so I should keep that in mind. My nasal skin is a bit thick. And they told me absolutely not to do alar reduction, because my nostrils are not wide and my bulbous nose is the type caused by spread-out cartilage. When they put a cotton swab inside my nose and lifted it, it really was true. They also said that because I secrete a lot of sebum around the lower part of my nostrils, I’m the type who would scar a lot. But they recommended raising the nasal bridge with silicone, saying that if I only did the nasal tip, it could look like Pinocchio. I had never really thought about putting a foreign material in, so I said I didn’t want it because there are a lot of side effects and I was afraid it would look too obviously surgical. Then they said that if I did it that way, they wouldn’t be able to raise the tip much, so I probably wouldn’t be satisfied with the tip either. The doctor also said he was telling me this because he personally wanted to make me look prettier as his patient. Since they had already told me I didn’t need facial contouring and didn’t need anything done to my eyes either, I didn’t feel like they were forcing something unnecessary on me. Also, the manager explained in great detail that silicone side effects are very rare, that it has a long history, and so on, so I got kind of mesmerized and shouted “natural-looking!!!!!” and ended up making a reservation.. hong hong
I found this community while looking for a forum with fewer brokers, and I intentionally joined Naver plastic surgery cafés, anti-plastic surgery cafés, and other cafés where I could learn more about side effects than promotions. But after seeing those negative posts all day, I had a lot of negative thoughts, and during the consultation I ended up asking many questions like that.. The manager said she couldn’t say side effects would 100% never happen, but the chance of side effects happening isn’t 100% either; people with good results don’t necessarily write posts; when posts about bad results gather together, it makes them look more common. She said that among their patients, people who had positive thoughts and trusted the doctor when having surgery always had good results with an added synergy effect, and that she hoped xx (my name) would also think positively. I really liked the book The Power of Positive Thinking. Suddenly that came to mind, and I felt like I had only been thinking too negatively. I was going to do it anyway!!!! (A suddenly totally random realization..) So for a while I intentionally looked only for good stories, like my aunt and my dad’s sister doing well even 20 years later!! There were people like that around me too.
Of course side effects can happen. No matter whether it’s one in several hundred or one in several thousand, if it happens to me, then it’s 100% for me. Still, because I wanted to live a little prettier in my young years, I accepted all of that and went through with it, thinking I might need revision surgery later. And these days, almost everyone around me gets surgery.. I also had this anxiety like, am I the only one falling behind? ㅠㅠ Even if I had turned around and not done it then, I would probably have come into this community every night, searched like crazy about facial contouring and rhinoplasty, and ended up doing it anyway. Now that I’ve had the surgery, I feel like something inside has opened up. Like I accomplished something..? Even though the doctor did the surgery ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ As for my big face, I’ll just cover it well with my hair. Even if I did it because I was mesmerized by what the manager said, what can I do? The surgery ended well, I woke up safely, and I’ve already had it done, so I’m only going to think positive thoughts!!
Now, the detailed surgery review! Anyway, today was the scheduled surgery day! When I was on the operating table, I didn’t think much. They tied my hair up, but they tied it tightly, so I had a small thought like, what if I get hair loss.. And the people preparing the surgery kept whispering and laughing while talking to each other, so I did get annoyedㅡㅡ but they said there was CCTV inside.. And they still explained things kindly (“Now we’re going to do this~” and so on), so I just let it go. Then they trimmed my nose hair,, disinfected inside my nose, and I kind of felt like I had become a lab rat.. I was thinking, when are they going to start, and then the nurse said, “It may feel heavy and achy.....” Yes, and just like that, deep-sleep- I had a great nap. When I opened my eyes, was I in the recovery room?.. I don’t remember. According to my younger sibling, I was saying nonsense like I was floating in the sky. When I got filler (MISKO), it was local anesthesia, so when they gave me the injection, Wait, let me curse a bit. It freaking hurt like absolute hell!!!!!! Cra!!!!zy!!! bam!!!!!!!! But with this, I just opened my eyes and it was over, and it didn’t hurt much, so that one thing was nice. After the surgery, I came home supported by my younger sibling. They said I slept so well that the surgery was comfortable for themㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ proud I’m also really good at sleeping and eating~~ And I saw in reviews that they usually block the nose with cotton all the way to the tip, but I guess not for me. I can breathe freaking well, finished a whole bowl of porridge my younger sibling bought me, and I’m lying down with my back propped up. It’s so comfortable that it feels strange... Pain isn’t going to come late after a few days, right?.. anxious They say when the stitches are removed, you end up looking desperately for your mom and dad, huh. I’ll enjoy this comfort.. Anyway, surgery review over! If you’re curious about anything else, please leave a comment. I’ll share the clinic information after my bandages come off and I personally feel like my surgery was successful!! If I share the clinic information and later something happens to me, then it would be like I recommended a bad clinic ㅠㅠ Please understand.
What I wanted to say was, please don’t be too scared of surgery, and for those who are about to have it soon, I hope you think positively. And the rest was just my rambling. I’m not forcing surgery on anyone.............. If you joined this kind of community anyway, doesn’t that mean you want surgery? If not, then never mind.. Anyway, I think it’ll be fun for me to look back on this later. I’ll keep leaving reviews little by little! Tomorrow I have to go for disinfection ㅠㅠ ugh, so annoying. I’ll have to wrap myself up completely and take the subway. Then bye, everyone.
