Around February 2013, I had L-shaped silicone + lateral osteotomy + nostril reduction + ear cartilage. I felt the area between my eyebrows gradually turning bluish, and because my rhinitis was getting worse and I had a throbbing sensation, I decided I needed to have it removed. I went around to consultations at different places :) During the consultations, I found out it was L-shaped silicone, and because I felt anxious, I ended up having it removed quickly.
I had the removal on 2018/12/26~ I did not have inflammation or any other side effects. It was done through a closed approach under sedation anesthesia. The silicone + ear cartilage were removed, and the capsule was not removed.
After the surgery, the director told me that because the silicone had been sitting asymmetrically for a long time, my left alar cartilage had broken. Other than that, he said everything was fine~ There was no inflammation either..
First of all, the best thing after removal is first, my rhinitis has almost disappeared. I’m not sure if this is because I had it removed... Right before removal, it didn’t get better even when I took medicine. For months, I lived with only rhinitis medicationㅠㅠ But after removal, aside from a little runny nose in the morning, I don’t have anything, so my family is surprised haha, saying it’s amazing..
Second, my nose is soft and squishy. Before removal, my nose, especially the tip, was extremely hard, and of course I couldn’t make a pig nose; it even felt like it wasn’t my own nose. Now I can make a pig nose and touch it freely. It’s so comfortableㅠㅠ living with my own nose..
Third, there is no feeling of pressure. When I slept lying on my side, the pressure? the feeling of it pulling to one side was really severe, but now I don’t have that at all. My nose is re~ally comfortable!!
Fourth, I can breathe well. My nostril openings were already small, but after raising my nose, they became even smaller, so it was hard to breathe. Now it isn’t a huge difference, but it is definitely more comfortable.
Fifth, my current nose suits my image better. Honestly, I wasn’t dissatisfied before removal either. But a few days ago, I looked at photos from before removal.... It looked so bad lololol People around me also say now is much betterㅠㅠ Before going for removal, I worried, what if I become ugly? so I didn’t want to delete my old photos, but now I want to delete them right away lol But they’re memories, so I’m just leaving them there.
There are so many other advantages too~ The downsides are that I’ve gone back to a completely bulbous nose, which is a bit disappointing.. and my nasal bridge has gotten a lot lower~ I don’t know if it’s a side effect of the first surgeryㅜㅜ My original nose bridge was straight? but now it has an uneven contour.
Ah!! The contraction phase that everyone is curious about... My director said it probably wouldn’t come severely for me. From one month to two months after removal, it was extremely hard. It also lifted up.. ㅠㅠ
I slept with a humidifier on every day, wore a mask to avoid cold wind, and exercised diligently too! I also kept massaging my nose~ Up until three months, it was very hard and lifted in the morning, but if I kneaded it a bit, it would loosen and come down, something like that? Now that I’m approaching four months, the hardness has almost disappeared.
I think exercise and massage are the most important~
I don’t know if people around me don’t notice.. or just don’t say anything, but they seemed not to know until I told them haha. It is a nose somewhere between my original nose and my surgical nose.
If you ask anything you’re curious about, I’ll answer as soon as I check~ For those who are debating, I recommend removal.. haha
