Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

I eventually had double-jaw surgery after correcting my underbite

I had previously improved my underbite with orthodontic treatment when I was a student, but perhaps because I had not finished growing completely, my lower jaw started protruding again as I grew I considered trying orthodontics again, but I was told that my current condition would be difficult to correct with orthodontics alone, without surgery, so I eventually decided on double-jaw surgery. Since it was such a major operation, I compared several clinics and paid close attention to the consultations. I had surgery at [Clinic A], and what I liked most about my consultation with Doctor A was that the doctor answered my questions directly, clearly, and without talking around the point. The doctor clearly distinguished what was possible from what had limitations, which actually made me trust the doctor much more and relieved a lot of my anxiety. In the end, I had double-jaw surgery together with two facial-contouring procedures—square-jaw reduction and chin reduction—on July 13, and it’s already been three months. These days I can eat almost all the foods I wanted to eat, and I don’t have any particular discomfort in daily life, haha. If I had to name one thing, food gets caught fairly easily around the orthodontic appliances and scarred areas. Other than needing to be a little careful when brushing my teeth after meals, I’m doing really well. The swelling hasn’t completely gone down yet, but compared with before surgery, my facial contours have definitely changed a lot. I don’t notice much when I look in the mirror every day, but when I compare photos from before surgery or a few weeks ago, I can see the lines gradually becoming more refined. I still need to wait and see how things progress because the residual swelling has to decrease further, but considering how hard the immediate postoperative period was, it feels amazing that I’m already living so comfortably after three months, and I’m even more excited about what’s ahead!
