I had always been self-conscious about my protruding chin and asymmetry and thought I would need double-jaw surgery someday. Seeing myself naturally cover my face whenever I took photos, I carefully decided to have surgery while I was still as young as possible.
Because safety was my top priority, I mainly searched oral and maxillofacial surgery clinics. After carefully reviewing testimonials and before-and-after photos in cosmetic surgery communities, I went for consultations. I came to trust [Clinic A] because of their kind explanations and long history, and had surgery with Dr. Kim Jong-yoon.
It has already been seven months since surgery! I now live normally without discomfort, to the point that I sometimes forget I had surgery. At first I wondered when all the swelling would disappear, but it seems to have changed gradually over time. Since I see my face every day, I cannot tell well myself, but people around me keep saying the swelling is continuing to go down, haha.
This month I visited the clinic to check whether the bones had united properly. I was concerned because the swelling on the two sides seemed to be resolving differently, but during the examination they explained that it could feel that way because the skin was thicker on one side.
Sensation around my lips has returned well, and I hardly feel any part of daily life is affected by the surgery now. Above all, I am very happy that my face feels much smaller! Thinking about how I used to cover my face because of my protruding chin and asymmetry makes the change feel even more satisfying.
I am still undergoing orthodontic treatment, so I plan to manage it well and finish properly. I hope to complete the remaining orthodontic treatment successfully, haha.
