I had it done when I was in college, and my vision wasn’t in the minus range, so it didn’t hurt that much. They told me to be careful with sunlight, so I wore sunglasses and a hat. A friend of mine who had it done around the same time didn’t take good care of it, and they said their cornea got a bit cloudy. But I think they said it would come back.
Until the early days of working at my company, whenever I went for regular checkups, they always said my vision was over 1.2. But since I kept looking at the computer and my phone, it gradually got worse, and even though I did it so I wouldn’t have to wear glasses, I wear blue-light-blocking glasses when I work. (I got them made about 2 years ago, and after checking my vision at the optical shop, they added just a tiny bit of prescription.) If I don’t put in artificial tears in the morning, my eyes are so dry that I can’t open them, and it feels like the tight, swollen feeling in my eyeballs is getting stronger. Depending on my condition, I feel quite a bit of glare/halos when driving at night.
Still, even if I went back to before I had it done, I think I’d do it again..
