Review after 6 months It’s already been 20 years since I started using glasses and contact lenses.... Because of the lenses I’d been using since 10 years ago, my eyes became very dry, and when my eye condition was bad, I couldn’t even wear them. Even buying daily disposables on sale, I think it cost about 300,000 won for a 3-month supply. I wanted to save that money, get rid of the inconvenience, stop having to look for my glasses as soon as I opened my eyes in the morning, and be able to lie down comfortably and watch TV. You’ll know how uncomfortable it is to lie down while wearing glasses... And the most urgent thing was the glasses marks that had become pigmented on the bridge of my nose from wearing old glasses.... They had settled in as a complex for me. If I got laser treatment but wore glasses again, it would all be for nothing.. To be honest, I was scared of eye surgery, so even though I wore titanium glasses from Linxxx, a brand famous for having the lightest glasses, there was no avoiding the physical pressure. After wearing those glasses for 2 years too, I finally made up my mind and started looking into vision correction surgery. First, while looking through communities and YouTubers, I learned that vision correction surgery has to suit your own eyes, and that there are surgeries you can’t get even if you want them. That’s where I heard about something called SMILE LASIK, and for someone like me who mainly drives, is an office worker who has to return quickly to daily life, and rubs my eyes in my sleep, LASEK seemed risky; still, I went around to 3 hospitals specializing in SMILE LASIK and 3 hospitals specializing in LASEK, for a total of 6 hospitals. Thankfully, the eye exam results came out similarly at all of them. First of all, my corneal thickness (520) meant it didn’t matter whether I did SMILE LASIK or LASEK, so I decided on SMILE LASIK. After deciding on SMILE LASIK, I had to look for a hospital, and since I thought it would be best to receive it from Professor Jung Eui-sang at SNU Eye Clinic, which first introduced SMILE LASIK, I decided to get it from Professor Jung Eui-sang! Even through the brief consultation before surgery, I somehow felt at ease, and I thought I could trust this professor and leave it to him, so I got it done the same day. Of course, the reason I ended up having same-day surgery was that while going to 6 places, I had received every test there was, including dilation exams and so on, so I thought there wouldn’t be any issue, and that’s why I had same-day surgery. Everyone else, please make sure to get thoroughly examined and decide carefully. After getting it, everything was just extremely hazy... But after about 30 minutes, I started to see, so I felt I could get home even without a guardian accompanying me. I came with my girlfriend, so as soon as it was over, I went to a nearby good tonkatsu place for dinner with my girlfriend, who had worked hard waiting for me (actually, the surgery ended quickly, but the waiting took a long time). And one day later, glare/halos were severe, and the streetlights really spread out like sea urchins. Probably the highest stage among the glare/halo stages they tell you about during consultation haha I could read building signs that looked like they were about a 2 km radius away... Amazing.. I had definitely taken my glasses off, but I could see things far away. For about a week, it was fascinating, and when I looked at the community, people said anisometropia? uneven vision? was really common, so I was worried in my own way. I felt like I had uneven vision too. On an actual vision test, my right eye was 0.8 and my left eye was 1.0. Ah, did mine go wrong too... I worried about all sorts of things, then went to a nearby optical shop and a local eye clinic, and they told me the surgery went well and not to worry. So I stopped looking at the community, lived my life and forgot about it for 6 months, and at some point the uneven vision disappeared too. Recently I measured it because of a health checkup, and now it comes out 1.0 and 1.0. Even when I cover each eye, there’s no difference in vision. It was fascinating. Maybe I’m fully adapted now... As for glare/halos, which many people are very curious about, I think they disappeared after about 3 months? Of course I don’t have them now either. If anything, it feels better than when I wore glasses.. Anyway, you can receive the procedure well without worrying.
