Before before after after after after hello! I had orthodontic treatment at Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for malocclusion and facial asymmetry, then underwent double-jaw surgery and three types of facial contouring surgery (cheekbones, square jaw, and chin), and I am now entering my 9th month after surgery!! The swelling from the double-jaw and facial contouring surgery has gone down so much that I can pretty much say there is none left. Haha People meeting me for the first time say it looks so natural that they would never know I had double-jaw surgery! Of course, the muscles around my jaw have not fully relaxed yet, so when I smile or keep my mouth closed it can feel a little awkward, and the sensation is still vague, but compared to the beginning it has recovered a lot, so I am satisfied! Hahaha
It still feels awkward to smile widely, but other than that there is no discomfort. Orthodontic treatment is still uncomfortable, but there are subtle changes happening through it, so it is manageable haha
Also, since I go to the hospital every month, it is nice that they can check those parts!
Compared to before, I have gained a lot more confidence, and I often hear compliments like my face looks small, my nose seems prettier, and my impression has become gentler, so I am feeling the importance of face shape even more. Just changing the face shape made my overall mood softer and my features look more defined, so these days I think even more that I am glad I had double-jaw surgery.
When I read double-jaw surgery reviews, there were many posts saying that compared to the stress they had in the past, this level of discomfort is bearable, and that the surgery is really hard and painful but once they see their face changing, they do not even think about it anymore. Now I finally relate to that.
It is not only my appearance that changed; I feel that I have changed a lot internally as well, after getting away from the complex and stress I had experienced since I was young.
Of course, it is painful and recovery is hard, but even so, if you are continuing to worry because of a complex, I recommend doing it!
