I started orthodontic treatment late, after turning 25. It was more expensive than a local clinic, but my temporomandibular joint was not good, so I got orthodontic treatment at Gangnam Severance, where there was an oral and maxillofacial surgery department I had been going to. When I started, I expected it to take about 2 and a half to 3 years, but my teeth moved faster than expected, so I think it ended when it had been a little under 2 years. My professor in charge changed midway due to maternity leave. Because my jaw is on the small side, when I started, they suggested a surgery along with orthodontics to cut the jaw and move it slightly forward before fixing it in place, but I was scared and didn’t do it, and just did orthodontic treatment. I think they said I could expect about 70% improvement with orthodontics alone. My snaggle teeth were severe, but after orthodontics I’m satisfied. Since my teeth are microdontic and originally small, after orthodontics there are some areas that look empty here and there. They said they could make something with a porcelain-like material and fill it nicely, but there isn’t anything particularly uncomfortable, so I’m not doing it.
