Since I live outside Seoul, I went to consultations at two places. I had silicone inserted 15 years ago and only had something like cartilage tying done, but the silicone at the tip started showing through, so I looked into revision surgery. First of all, I did not want an incision under my nose, and while looking for places that could do a closed approach, I went to two clinics, Clinic A and Clinic B. 1. Clinic A: Even getting a consultation date was difficult. The consultation date was almost a month later, and for the female director it was about 3 weeks later. On the day of the consultation, my appointment was at 12:30, so I arrived on time, and there were quite a few people. While waiting, I saw two people pass by wearing surgical gowns. First, they took about 5 photos, then I waited again. I consulted with the manager, and saw the director for about 5 minutes. They put the photos up and showed me with Photoshop what kind of shape it would become. They said while replacing the silicone, the glabella area should be lowered a bit and I would need one and a half sides of ear cartilage. For the nasal tip, surgery with their nasal-tip method could be done closed, and it would take about 30 minutes. Then I came out and discussed the cost with the manager. Silicone replacement 1.5 million won, nasal-tip method 2.5 million won, ear cartilage on both sides 2.5 million won. Total 6.5 million won, and with 10% VAT, total 7.2 million won. Oh, that cost is with partial photo provision and writing a review, and originally it says nasal-tip method 3 million won and ear cartilage 3 million won. (I know revision surgery is expensive, but seeing that pricing, it seems even primary surgery is at least 3.5 million won.) Anyway, I kept seeing review photos of people in the waiting room (although their eyes were covered), and in the mini pamphlet they had printed out review photos I had seen on blogs or cafes, so I did not want to provide photos. I said I did not want to provide photos, and they said they would do it for the same price. The consultation date was December 4, and if I had surgery, the date would only be available around February. When I asked for the earliest possible date, they said there was one open morning slot two weeks later, so if I decided, I was going to put down a 300,000 won deposit that day.
2. Clinic B: Here, I booked the consultation through Naver the day before, and it was available right away. There was no one in the waiting room. Even after I finished the consultation and came out, there was still no one. The consultation fee is 33,000 won. They told me to follow, so I followed them into the director’s office, and the director sounded a bit irritated and said, “Please come in a little later,” so I was a bit flustered. I went with a guardian, but they would not let the guardian come into the consultation. My mom was flustered too. Anyway, I went in for the consultation, and it really felt like the person was trying to control me. Sitting with his elbows on the desk, he told me to look in the mirror and then kept touching my nose. The director’s fingernails were a bit long, and there was a slightly strange smell from his hands. I saw people write the same thing in consultation reviews and Naver reviews. The first thing he asked was why I came to his clinic. So I said I came because it was closed and minimally incisional. He said if I remove the silicone, my nose will turn up. He said I must originally have had an upturned, nostril-exposed nose (I didn’t). He said if I remove it and put it back in, contracture will occur. He said after removing the silicone, while waiting 6 months, I would need fat grafting to the nasal bridge, and then 6 months later I would need surgery again. That was the gist. In front of the mirror, he put two cotton swabs into my nostrils and kept lifting them, about 30 times in a row. I started finding it so funny. But the atmosphere was bad, so I held it in. It just made me feel bad... It was basically a consultation saying he could not do it, and there was no cost guidance either. The staff said, “Think it over once and decide.” Wasted time and wasted money haha
In the end, I booked Clinic A. The doctor was originally an otolaryngology resident too, and said the surgery would be easy and a closed approach was possible, so I decided to trust him. And first of all, there must be a reason there are so many people.
