I’m sorry to leave a post like this while you’re probably excitedly reading reviews because you’re planning to get rhinoplasty.
Most rhinoplasty complications are these two: inflammation (+ perforation) and nasal obstruction. (I’m planning removal because of nasal obstruction.)
First, nasal obstruction. Once this happens, 9 out of 10 people try to get removal or revision surgery.
But removal is understandable... revision surgery... hmm...
If you do this again... for example, raising the nasal tip or doing septal extension so the nostrils don’t show ;;
Usually, a septal support graft is added to one side of the septum to extend it.
If that happens, one side inside the nose, especially the nasal valve, becomes narrower.
Then it becomes hard to breathe through that side of the nose.
Then does that mean everyone who had septal extension has one nasal passage narrowed? What about the people whose results turned out well?
If the nasal tip is not raised excessively, the length is not overextended just to hide an upturned nose, and the surgeon is very skilled,
a fairly satisfying result may be possible. But! Even in these cases, one nasal passage still has to become narrower.
The septum becomes thicker... and only toward one side of the nose, so of course the nasal valve on that side often becomes stenotic.
Nasal valve reconstruction? That is... in the case of a spreader graft, it’s done when the nasal valve has opened because the hump was shaved down a bit too much after hump-nose reduction,
or when the nasal valve angle has become narrow.
If the nasal tip is raised excessively or the length is extended, the septum becomes thicker overall, so even if donor costal cartilage or autologous costal cartilage is grafted onto the nasal dorsum,
the nasal valve cannot return to a normal level.
Ah... I’ve been struggling lately because of rhinoplasty complications, so this got long-winded.
I’m not saying everyone absolutely shouldn’t do it. If you don’t get greedy and just make a small, moderate adjustment, you may not have complications.
But if that’s not the case, I wanted to try to persuade you a little, so I’m leaving this post.
