I had surgery around this time 4 years ago, and they mainly focused on function. The improvement in my protruding lower jaw and malocclusion was definite. Everything is good, but the disappointing part is that I do have some side effects. Abnormal sensation in the upper lip, abnormality in the right jaw area. I went into surgery accepting the possibility of sensory disturbance, so I don't worry about that, but the feeling that the muscles in the right jaw area are twisted has not gone away at all, and the jawbone doesn't feel smooth; it feels like it is interrupted. I mentioned this every time I visited the hospital for 6 weeks after surgery, and when I had the plate/screw removal surgery, I asked them to take a look, but they coldly refused and only removed the fixation hardware.. Later, if I have the means, I plan to visit a university-hospital-level institution for a detailed examination and, if necessary, proceed with surgery as well.
Of course, if you ask whether I would go back, I would not go back haha
