My jaw is narrow and my snaggle teeth were so severe that I had no choice but to do extraction orthodontic treatment. Even after consultations at 5 clinics, they all recommended extractions. I had orthodontic treatment for 2 years and 8 months... Honestly, I recommend avoiding extraction orthodontics as much as possible unless the situation is serious. After extracting 4 teeth, the supporting gums receded, and because they could no longer support the soft tissue, the fat over my front cheekbones dropped into nasolabial folds, making my face look saggy... A peanut-shaped face came as a bonus. My dental alignment was so severe that I really had no choice.
Also, with orthodontic treatment, the doctor’s skill is important, but I think it is really important whether communication is smooth. During treatment, I complained that my front teeth were touching my lower teeth and causing discomfort, but the doctor said it did not look that way to them, that this much was within the normal range, and made me out to be a difficult patient complaining about discomfort. And in the end, my left front tooth touched the appliance and cracked... Because there was no communication, I felt frustrated, and I could not even tell whether the treatment was going well, so I was under a lot of stress throughout the treatment period. Later, I went to several university hospitals and consulted professors, and they told me that even if something is within the normal range, if the patient feels discomfort, it would be right to move in the direction of improving it. Hearing that was such a comfort... Everyone, please make sure to focus on whether the doctor communicates smoothly before deciding on a clinic, and if anything feels uncomfortable during treatment, be sure to strongly speak up!!
