I'm from outside Seoul, and I had double-jaw surgery in Seoul in October 2019. At the time, I had never intended to get such a major surgery as double-jaw surgery in my life, but the timing was good and I somehow managed to get the money together, so I ended up doing it! Honestly, by my standards, I thought double-jaw surgery was extremely difficult even among cosmetic surgeries, and I thought I might even die during it, but I decided that since I only live once, I should do it when I had the chance, and got on the operating table. (People born with a pretty facial shape really need to thank their parents hundreds and thousands of timesㅠ)
Anyway, after general anesthesia + major surgery, I was hospitalized for one day, and since I'm from outside Seoul, I was discharged the next day wearing a compression bandㅋㅋ My face was swollen like E.T., and back then people didn't even wear masks, so I rode the KTX looking obviously like someone who had surgery on their face..
From then on, I stayed home and went up to Seoul every week or every two weeks. I think the one-month mark was the most painful? It was a 4-hour bus ride, and at one month I was practically like a patient.. my appearance..
I'll skip the detailed review, but anyway, it was super hard.
Then, just when the swelling was slowly going down and I was starting to look human again, COVID hit (ㅋㅋI had finally had the surgery), and I had to go around wearing a mask and covering my lower face, which was disappointing. If it had been before surgery, I probably would have been a mask-fraud type.
They say side effects can include sensory abnormalities or nose widening, but so far I don't think I have any.
Even now, more than 2 years after safely finishing double-jaw surgery, I get scared when double-jaw surgery side effects or surgery videos come up on YouTube ㅠㅠ My friends around me often get double eyelid surgery or nose surgery, but double-jaw surgery is really rare, so everyone finds it fascinating.
Before surgery, I was full of all kinds of worries, but for people like my past self who really have a jaw complex, I hope you look into it carefully and consult the doctor in person!
Honestly, you can't ignore a jaw complex ㅠ When I was young, my nickname was Jawdol (I'm a woman). Having a distinct character is nice, but it really hurt me deeply.
Anyway, has it been more than 2 years?? As someone getting close to 3 years after double-jaw surgery, who had surgery first and orthodontic treatment afterward and is still in braces, I really think I did well to have the surgery!
I don't know how it will change after 10 years, or what it will be like after I get my braces off, but compared with my long cucumber-like face before double-jaw surgery, having a shorter lower face is definitely niceㅠㅠ
Conclusion: 3 years after double-jaw surgery, still no side effects.
