Hi I’m sharing my review after going around for consultations before my first double eyelid surgery.
Common points: none had consultation fees, all were kind, all had review-event conditions on apps, and all the consultants were good-looking.
The consultation went in this order: fill out a desk questionnaire > (some clinics take photos, some don’t) > consultant > specialist check > consultant.
I wanted big, kind-looking eyes, so before going around I thought I could just get double eyelid surgery plus canthoplasty in all directions, but after consultations, I realized the limits of my eyes and consulted about the necessity and feasibility of incisional ptosis correction + canthoplasty.
1. P (J) Before visiting, I wanted this place the most because the review photos were so pretty, and the consultant also had the face closest to my ideal. The doctor-director was supposed to come in for the consultation, but when it was delayed, the consultant came back into the consultation room and explained various advantages unique to this clinic. I felt she was considerate and not just leaving me sitting there alone.
The director was young, and his tone was quite straight and firm. He said all types of canthoplasty were possible and gave the feeling that if I wanted it, he would do everything, like it would make my eyes bigger and more open.
The aftercare period is 2 years, and swelling injections/laser are unlimited, they said.
There was some pressure to put down a reservation deposit, and the reason felt like something I couldn’t really verify. The total estimate was around the upper-middle range among the places I consulted.
2. C Y (C) Highly recommended if you want a high-end, special service without running into other people. They take photos before the consultation.
The wait to meet the doctor was very short, so it was possible to ask the doctor tons of questions.
The doctor was young, with a gentle and calm style. He was the only one who recommended a non-incisional method. He did say non-incisional, incisional, and canthoplasty were all possible and would be good, but only if I asked, “Wouldn’t this be better than that because of this and that?” would he say, “Yes, that’s true~” So among the clinics I consulted, it felt like he was still building the experience to lead the consultation with firm expert guidance ^^; They said many things doctors don’t do at other clinics are done directly by the doctor here. The total estimate wasn’t the most expensive, and given the service quality, the price was understandable, but the disappointing points below made me hesitate a lot.
What was disappointing: I applied after seeing the app price, but when the consultant gave the estimate, the regular price was different from the regular price shown on the app, and sleep anesthesia was charged separately.. For the review event, I had to write on two apps. The app I used to apply for the consultation was also this one, but even after applying for the event consultation, there was the most to do, like adding them on KakaoTalk and making a Naver reservation. Before leaving, my review also had to be confirmed by the desk. The aftercare period is also short at 1 year, and if costs occur, the difference from changing the surgical method and anesthesia fees are my responsibility, they said. But they spoke a bit as if they were doing me a favor, like “we’ll only take this much and do it,” so I wondered whether this really counts as aftercare. They didn’t mention much about post-op swelling-care services.
There was a deal from the consultant to make a same-day confirmed reservation deposit, but if the customer showed they weren’t going to do it, she didn’t cling and let it go cleanly.
3. B N B G (O) They take photos before the consultation, there was some waiting time, and there were so many clients that there almost weren’t enough consultation rooms. The wait for the director is quite long, but he said exactly, “Do this and this, and there isn’t enough space for posterior/lower canthoplasty,” so I liked his style. The content was concise, but he spoke very calmly, so the kindness did not feel lacking at all.
The aftercare period is short at 1 year, and they said swelling laser, injections, and oxygen care are possible after surgery under the doctor’s instructions. The total estimate was the most expensive, and there was absolutely no coercion about a same-day confirmed reservation deposit.
4. T O S (G) The wait was the longest by far. The director’s consultation style was very much my style. It was clear and concise: this and this are necessary, choose this as an option. Even if I said I wanted other things, he said they wouldn’t have a huge effect on my eyes, so first make the eyes larger vertically, and if I’m still unsatisfied, then open this area. He seems to pursue a natural eye shape. He seemed confident in the surgery, so scientifically he didn’t think aftercare packages were greatly necessary, and if things are a bit severe after surgery, then consult with the consultant and receive care like laser or injections.
The total estimate was around the middle, but I wondered, “This price for such a factory-style place?” They quoted canthoplasty by the price per side, so it felt expensive compared with the advertisement. There was some pressure for a same-day confirmed reservation deposit.
5. B R O (J) This was my first consultation, and it had the best price advantage. After going around to other places, I realized this place included everything that other places charged separately for. The number of required reviews was higher than other places, so it did feel a bit detailed, but after going around, I thought that was still definitely better than not mentioning things or glossing over them. I remember the line the director made for me was natural but the prettiest. The director was calm and kind, and his style was to do everything I wanted, but he is not the representative director of a large clinic. He looked older, but the period since he got his medical license or specialist qualification was relatively recent. (In other words, there may also be the advantage that the techniques he has are up to date.) It seemed like he originally wasn’t specialized in cosmetic plastic surgery, so trust in the stability of the doctor who would operate is the point that conflicts most with option 6, especially because it’s a factory-style large clinic. The app reviews all looked good, though.
Aftercare 2 years + no separate aftercare program.
6. P R T (O) Among the lines they made for me, this one made my eyes look the most dramatically bigger. I liked the director’s consultation style. The director gave the most detailed diagnosis of my eyes and their limits, so I absolutely recommend a consultation. He speaks like a highly developed AI, but after going around, I feel like I could just follow the director’s recommendations. The consultation time with the director was longer than expected.
Non-incisional is possible, but he recommended incisional. He said I don’t need posterior/lower canthoplasty, and if I do canthoplasty, just do epicanthoplasty, etc. His experience and track record in the Gangnam cosmetic plastic surgery ecosystem, plus reviews, felt the most stable, and when I verified his society/association memberships, his identity was clear.
Unusually, they told me to come in by post-op week after surgery. Aftercare is 1 year (they said it’s only the nominal period, and since it’s a one-doctor clinic, the director will practically keep seeing me even after that period) + swelling-care package.
The total estimate was in the middle.
Unusually, during the director’s consultation, another staff member came in and kept standing behind me, as if being punished or monitoring me, but there was no prior explanation or request for understanding about this, so it left me feeling uneasy.
In conclusion, I’m torn between no. 5 and no. 6. Everyone, which do you think would be better?
