I had three-part facial contouring + cortical bone resection and muscle reduction surgery at Noh Jong Hoon Plastic Surgery on March 24.
Facial contouring was my first cosmetic surgery, and since it was also a major surgery, I spent a long time doing thorough online research. I chose the hospitals I would visit for consultations with safety as my first priority and surgical results as my second. With Noh Jong Hoon Plastic Surgery, I first felt trust in terms of safety because of the basics, such as the director’s long experience, no accident record, and an anesthesiology specialist being on-site. Also, unlike other hospitals, even though they did not seem to advertise much, they were still consistently mentioned as a hospital that does well, which made me trust them. Also, on the hospital’s YouTube channel, the director said that he believes every surgery must be successful. It is an obvious statement, but in these days when there are so many hospitals that do not live up to that, I felt I could once again confirm the director’s sense of responsibility, so I trusted him even more. In terms of surgical results, I wanted a difficult outcome: natural but with definite effect... While reading many reviews of Noh Jong Hoon Plastic Surgery, I felt that the director performs surgery in a way that is natural but still produces a clear effect according to what the patient wants, so I thought it was a hospital that fit my standards. All of these conditions, and above all the fact that the director performs surgery with his own name on the clinic’s name, made me really trust them, so I decided to go to Noh Jong Hoon Plastic Surgery for an in-person consultation.
Since I live outside Seoul, it was not easy to go to many hospitals for consultations, so I had made reservations at a total of four places. But because the schedule was tight, on the day itself I ended up only being able to consult at two places, including Noh Jong Hoon Plastic Surgery. Maybe because it was during winter break, the peak season, even making consultation reservations was not easy ;ㅅ;
Noh Jong Hoon Plastic Surgery was my first hospital, and I went for a consultation in the morning slot. As soon as I arrived, I took a CT scan right away without waiting, then had a general consultation first with the consultant manager. The manager carefully asked which areas concerned me and what kind of feeling I wanted from the surgery, and recorded everything. She also explained the surgical methods and principles in detail in between. Even during the process of checking my health condition for anesthesia, she checked everything really thoroughly, which made me trust them. I had written down questions in advance, and she kindly answered that CCTV could be checked in real time, that dantrolene was also prepared, and which university hospital they were connected to in case of an emergency. There was absolutely no pressure at all to pay a deposit, and she kept asking whether I had anything else to ask, so I was able to comfortably and clearly find out everything I was curious about! After consulting with the manager, I consulted with the director, and the consultation with the director was mostly about the design. In reviews I had looked up before going for the consultation, people said the director was like a professor-type style: if you explain the direction you want well and ask things one by one, he answers. So I thought I had decided on the face shape I wanted fairly specifically, but after listening to the director, there were still many things I needed to think about more. For those parts, the director helped me decide by showing surgical cases, explaining while looking at the CT, or looking in the mirror and using a stick to cover parts of my face for comparison. The director is not an extremely warm and affectionate type, but he explains calmly and well. He did not first recommend, “I think you should do this,” but when I told him what I wanted, he explained that it could be addressed with this kind of surgery. I think that actually made me trust him more.
At the hospital I went to afterward, they had an ideal face shape that the hospital pursued and recommended increasing the length slightly through chin advancement. But I had never considered chin advancement, so I decided to have surgery at Noh Jong Hoon Plastic Surgery, and I scheduled a second consultation and blood test together to finalize the design and ask additional questions.
On the day of the second consultation, just like before, I first checked the design I wanted once more with the manager, then had a blood test. At Noh Jong Hoon Plastic Surgery, all the managers are nurses, so it was nice that the manager did the blood test right away. The surgery date was set for a morning surgery two weeks after the second consultation date, and I remember that, similarly, because it was peak season, there were many surgeries scheduled. But the director said he performs a maximum of only 2-3 surgeries a day, and on days when he does 3, they are only relatively simple surgeries. Most of all, he said he does not drink or smoke, so I really trusted him! After that, I looked in the mirror with the director once more and decided on the details. In the end, we decided on three-part facial contouring + cortical bone resection and muscle reduction. I emphasized that I wanted the frontal effect to be clear but natural, and not to become a dog-like jaw! So we decided to balance the overall asymmetry, set the cheekbones in line with the temples, create frontal effect through cortical bone resection and muscle reduction, and leave a little of the mandibular angle below the ear. Also, although my chin is not particularly narrow, I did not want to reduce the chin width, so the director said he would mostly just correct the asymmetry. In conclusion, we decided on a direction that would be natural but not weak in effect: moving in the parts that should be moved in as much as possible without affecting the nerves, and shaving the parts that should be shaved clearly.
The consultation at Noh Jong Hoon Plastic Surgery was really satisfying because the managers were so kind and made me feel comfortable, and I could feel the director’s calm confidence.
