Review of Completely Escaping a Bulbous Nose

Before <before nose surgery>Before <before nose surgery>After <1 week>After <1 month>After <2 months>After <2 months>Among my facial features, my nose was my only complex. I tend to wear heavier makeup, and I often hear that my overall features are quite striking, but whenever I heard that, my nose bothered me... My nasal bridge wasn’t particularly low, but my nasal tip was spread out, so it felt like it subtly disrupted the balance of my face. I was self-conscious about my nostrils getting bigger and the shape spreading when I smiled, so I could never smile freely and would cover my mouth with my hand when I laughed.

It bothered me a lot and felt inconvenient even in daily life, so I had always thought about getting nose surgery for a long time. Every time I scrolled through Instagram, the influencers’ noses looked so pretty! I realized that the nose shape really matters for photos to come out well, and I naturally started looking into rhinoplasty!

First, when looking into nose surgery, I thought hospitals famous for revision rhinoplasty must also be good at difficult surgeries and might look at things in more detail, so I went to consultations at six hospitals known for revision rhinoplasty. Among them, I decided on the hospital after considering review photos, the staff’s kindness, and the consultation with the director! The hospital I was most drawn to was one I had heard was good at improving bulbous noses, and since the director mainly performs many nose surgeries, I trusted that he would have a good aesthetic sense and left it to him.

My overall image is on the striking side, and I already had some nasal bridge height, so I had surgery using autologous costal cartilage with the focus on correcting my bulbous nose. Honestly, even at one week, when there was still swelling, I wondered if it already looked too natural, and if once the swelling went down more, it would become so natural that it wouldn’t look noticeable at all... But I think that was needless worry haha. Now that all the swelling has gone down and my nose has settled completely and naturally as if it had always been my own nose, it feels like only the swelling went away and it just became a little slimmer along the line the director created!

The bulbous nose that was my biggest complex was corrected so naturally that, from the front, I can’t even think of my pre-surgery nose at all. From the side, the line is also beautifully shaped, so I’m satisfied! During the consultation, the director confidently said that my forehead was round and pretty, so he would preserve that curve as much as possible while making the surgery harmonious. Seeing my side-profile photos, I really feel like he paid a lot of attention, so I’m grateful haha.

The autologous costal cartilage harvesting site that you’re probably most curious about... For about 3 days, it was hard when I sneezed or laughed, but I took painkillers properly and rested well, so I was able to return to daily life comfortably pretty quickly! At first, I worried a lot that the scar from the autologous costal cartilage would be large, but when I measured it with a ruler, it was really exactly 2 cm? In real life, it’s barely noticeable, and as it heals more and more, it’s becoming similar to my original skin tone... Now I don’t even care about it, to the point that the time I spent worrying feels like a waste!

After getting nose surgery, I take more selfies than before, and I’m so happy that I no longer have to cover my mouth when I smile... If anyone is thinking about rhinoplasty because of a bulbous nose like me, I think it would be good to check carefully whether the director can definitely improve the bulbous nose from the front, and if costal cartilage will be used, whether they are skilled at handling costal cartilage! Thanks for reading this long post~ haha
