I had rhinoplasty three times 8 years ago, up through a second revision. This removal is my 4th surgery. A little while ago, I found out that an implant was slightly protruding inside my nose, and when I went to the hospital where I had surgery, I thought I only had ear cartilage, septal cartilage, and silicone, but they told me they had put Medpor in my nose, and I learned that it had broken through as a side effect. They said they would do removal surgery, but even during my 3rd surgery, the part that was the whole reason for having surgery was not improved at all, and on top of that they had even put in Medpor, causing a complication, so I couldn't trust them to do it. I searched online and went around in person for consultations through a community.
From last Wednesday, Thursday, Friday through this Monday, I had consultations at 6 places including the three major clinics, and I had surgery at one of them. The surgery was full removal, and because there was contracture from bacteria due to the protrusion, I also had surgery to harvest new ear cartilage and lower the upturned nasal tip. The reason I chose the hospital was that all three major clinics had similar opinions and surgical methods, but the place where I had surgery was 1 million won cheaper than the other two. Over the weekend, I looked hard for reviews, and there were people who did well at the two expensive places, but also people who didn't, and it seemed to vary by person. I thought if I paid 6 million won and the surgical result was bad, it would feel so empty.. Also, only the director at this hospital touched my columella and said it seemed like there was no septal cartilage in there, only Medpor. They said maybe during the 3rd surgery, they tried to reuse the septal cartilage, but it was too small, so they just used Medpor.. Once they opened it, there were only useless pieces like septal cartilage, ear cartilage, and bone fragments, so they removed everything, and I confirmed it with photos. They said the capsule was not thin, but there was so much scar tissue that they removed all the scar tissue, including up to the nasal tip area.
When I had my first surgery with ear cartilage + silicone, there wasn't much manipulation, so there was no scar tissue and it was clean. (Even then, Medpor had been put into my columella without my knowing, so it was removed during revision surgery.) But during the revision, they reused ear cartilage + used septal cartilage, and I think they really messed with my nose a lot then. After the 2nd surgery, I couldn't breathe well and developed rhinitis, so I had panic disorder and insomnia. Even now, that bastard advertises noses and breasts a ton on YouTube, and there were more than a few times I really wanted to kill him. My nasal bridge also came out crooked, so after agonizing a huge amount, I had the 3rd surgery thinking it would be my last, but the nose line came out exactly the same, and only Medpor was added, leading to contracture.. Seriously, the nose is not something you should touch carelessly or lightly.
I prepared for 30 minutes before surgery, went into surgery at 3, and came out at 5. The surgery was done under sedation, and at the end, when they were suturing, they woke me up and told me to lift my chin. That is when they put cotton inside the nose, and that is the most painful partㅜㅜ You can think of it as having tampons put all the way up to the nasal tipㅜㅜ I lay in the recovery room for 40-50 minutes applying a cold pack, then came out, and the consultant showed me photos taken during my surgery process and explained them. I have a weak stomach, but since it was mine, I just looked. They gave me the removed silicone and Medpor, and I need to discard them, but I'll take the photos down later. They remove the cotton two days later, and I wonder how I'm going to endure these two days..ㅜㅜ
