Review of protrusive mouth correction

It’s been about two months since I got my braces off. My teeth were actually very even, but my protrusive mouth was a complex for me, so I chose extraction orthodontic treatment. I think the treatment took about two and a half years. Now that it’s all finished, it wasn’t some hugely dramatic change, but I can definitely see that it has gone in compared to before. Somewhere between standard and slightly protrusive? It’s not like it went in to a perfect state, but I’m satisfied even with this much, because my mouth is no longer a complex for me. As a very minor side effect, the dental midline of my upper and lower jaws became slightly asymmetric by about 1 mm, but I think that might be because I didn’t wear my elastics diligently enoughㅋㅋㅋ Still, it’s not uncomfortable when I chew, and it’s something only I notice, so I’m just living with it and moving on. Also, it’s not quite something I’d call a side effect, but the facial changes that bother me are that my lips became thinner and my philtrum got a little longer. When the protruding area goes in, that kind of facial change is unavoidable. My lips were already thin, so that’s a bit disappointing, but even so, I like the way I am now better than having a protrusive mouth.
