I wrote a review of my orthodontic treatment a few months ago, but since the treatment is almost finished now, I’m writing another review with photos.. My teeth were very straight, but because of protruding gums, I had a protruding mouth, and I also had a severe retruded chin. Back in 2015, when I was a high school senior, I visited a dental clinic in a provincial area, but maybe because the technology wasn’t very advanced then, they told me it was just fat in my philtrum and to just live with it. At that time, the only correction methods for protruding gums were things like protruding-mouth surgery called ASO, or expensive orthodontic clinics. Throughout my school years, I lived with so much stress because of this, to the point that I can’t even put it into words.. It wasn’t even during COVID then, but I hated it so much that I wore a mask around. But at a young age, it wasn’t easy to find around 10 million won, and since my parents wouldn’t pay for it, I felt really frustrated and gloomy.. because it was a difficult case.. Then after I came to Seoul for university, I persuaded my parents a lot, and I finally got it done at the end of December when I was 24. As you can see in the photos, my mouth went in a lot. My retruded chin also came forward a lot, and they said my facial length shortened by about 5 mm. In the post-treatment X-ray photo, the CT machine was a bit low for me so my posture looks a little strange, but you can still clearly see that my mouth went in, right? This was non-extraction. I didn’t have a single tooth pulled. They said that because I have a round, small-nosed, cute(?) impression, there was no need to pull teeth just to set the mouth back, and sure enough, it went in enough. I’m not sure if it’s okay to praise the clinic, but I’m so grateful that I honestly want to praise them.. The director graduated top of the class from dental school and graduate school (I like things like that..), is always extremely kind, and whenever I finish treatment and leave, he always lifts my outerwear and helps me put it on, helps me put on my bag too (lol), and he always emphasizes posture correction, so when I first started orthodontic treatment, he even personally demonstrated posture-correction stretches for me. I really wondered, is there actually a doctor like this? ㅠ The clinic manager and dental hygienists are all kind too… First of all, I’m happy because my complex was resolved satisfactorily. The cost is 6.1 million won, but they said they would take off 350,000 won if I don’t come during evening hours or weekends, so it’s 5.85 million won, and I can pay 250,000 won per month. If I need scaling or treatment in the middle and pay for that appointment, they count that toward the orthodontic cost too! But they did scaling whenever needed each time I went, so I didn’t really have a chance to get cavities.. Anyway, I’m so, so satisfied. Thinking about how much stress I had since I was young is honestly horrible, and I think 5.85 million won was so worth it. Back when I was going around for orthodontic consultations, another clinic that was also pretty famous for protruding gums said it would be 7.1 million won? and that I’d need extractions ㅠ I know so well how stressful this is, so I’m writing this.. I sincerely hope it helps ㅠ Oh, the way my gums used to show like crazy when I smiled is gone too!!
