I had SMILE LASIK surgery with Director Kim Joo-hyun on August 14. First, when I arrived at the hospital, I had the examination done first, and they welcomed me very kindly. I wanted to have surgery after the same-day examination, so I told them in advance when making the appointment. Since the next day was a holiday, there were quite a lot of people on the day I had the examination. I was very worried that my corneas might have been damaged because I wore contact lenses too often in a day. I wanted SMILE LASIK because I heard it causes the least pain and interferes the least with daily life. Fortunately, after the examination, they told me that SMILE LASIK or LASEK would be possible. (LASIK was not possible because my corneas are not on the thick side.)
They said my vision was not that bad, so the amount of corneal tissue to be removed would not be deep, and the other areas were normal as well. They said I could proceed with SMILE LASIK right away, so I decided to have the surgery. I had already seen Director Kim Joo-hyun often through YouTube and blog reviews, so from the beginning I wanted to have the surgery with Director Kim Joo-hyun. So after going down to the 3rd floor and waiting a little, I changed into a surgical gown and went into the operating room. There were two machines in the operating room, and I think the surgery took around 10 minutes.
After the surgery, maybe because the anesthesia had not fully worn off, I had no pain at all, so I was happy thinking, are my eyes blessed..? But in the car on the way home, the anesthesia gradually wore off and my eyes started to sting little by little. The pain kept getting worse for about that whole day, and it felt a bit like I had put chili pepper in my eyes. Then the next morning, when I opened my eyes, I was surprised because I could see the world so clearly. There was almost no pain either! However, I did have glare and haziness. They had told me in advance that because of dry eye syndrome and because my pupils were on the large side during the examination, the glare would be severe. I’m on day 10 now, and the haziness keeps decreasing when I use artificial tears, and I think I’m getting used to the glare too. When I had my vision checked after surgery, both eyes were 1.2. The director, the consultant, and everyone else were kind. And above all, there was almost no pain, so I’m extremely satisfied! I received a 100,000 + 100,000 won discount for same-day surgery after the examination and a referral discount. They also gave me a ZEISS warranty card and guarantee LASEK surgery if myopia develops within 10 years, so even if I could go back, I think I would still have SMILE LASIK at SNU Seoul Eye Clinic.
