For noses like mine, if the surgery goes wrong, the bulbousness is not corrected at all; only the height increases, leaving the nose wide and blunt, making it look even larger and more prominent. I really wanted to avoid that, so I think I researched hospitals very diligently... I had thought alar reduction was essential, but the surgeon at the clinic where I had surgery said that reducing my alar base could make it look pinched and turned up, so they advised against it. However, other clinics said it would be better to do alar reduction as well, so I deliberated a lot.
When I went for consultations, I photographed all the designs they made for me. I showed them to my friends one by one and asked which style suited me better, and I reviewed the notes I had written during the consultations. No matter how I looked at it, I liked the clinic that quoted silicone + septal cartilage + donated rib cartilage + bulbous-nose correction, so I decided on it.
Because if I skipped alar reduction and disliked the result, I could have it done later, but once surgery is performed, reversing it is difficult. Now I am satisfied because my nose came out naturally and as slender as I wanted even without alar reduction. It would have been a disaster if I had done it... I thought mine was obviously a nose that needed alar reduction, but I guess an experienced surgeon sees things differently... lol
After my nose surgery, I became confident about my profile, and now I do not refuse even when someone says they want to take my picture. Photos really come out so well these days...
Of course, I had worries too. Before surgery, I worried about what to do if it hurt a lot and whether it would suit me after surgery. After surgery, on the day I had the splint removed, I worried that the tip was too turned up and that the bridge between my eyes was too high. But, amazingly, around the third week everything settled, the tip came down, and the swelling between my eyes dropped rapidly. Later I was praying for it to stop going down... lol
The final result is similar to the design and harmonizes fairly well with my other features, so I am satisfied. I wanted a slender look, but I did not want my nose alone to stand out too much. I traveled with my friends after surgery and received many compliments, which made me happy. I think nose surgery may be the best decision I have ever made.
