One week after full nasal removal (G.Y.S. (now R.S.) hospital) review and story info.

Hello, everyone? I personally wrote this because I wanted to briefly share what I felt and the information I learned while undergoing this full nasal removal, hoping it might help a little! I could have split it into separate posts about the consultation period, the day of surgery, the third day after surgery, and one week after surgery, but I thought there might be others worrying or worrying day by day, and I also felt that posting too often would not suit me personally, so I logged in on my computer instead of my phone and am writing this all at once. I also came across this community for the first time through this opportunity and learned more information than I expected. I had been thinking, if I ever experience something, I should definitely write a post to help even a little! So I’m glad I was able to keep that promise. In particular, I felt there wasn’t much information or material about the hospital I chose, so I put the hospital initials in the title to make it easier to search. Then, let me get into the story a little briefly and simply. I’ll just pick out the key points and write them down in short form! (Please understand even if it gets long... I want to be helpful;; After writing this post today, maybe I’ll write a one-month review, maybe not? That kind of feeling) [History] 1. 2010 - closed method / L-shaped silicone 2. 2020 - open method / bridge silicone replacement, ear cartilage for the tip [Problem] For the past two and a half years, I’ve been living incredibly busy and chaotic, sleeping maybe 5 hours a day at most while working that hard. As a result, maybe because I’m in my late 30s, I could feel my body’s immune system dropping significantly. So I took curcumin, supplements, and so on, which I normally didn’t take, but after living for so long, I realized sleep is the most important thing for a person, and the only day I can make up even a little sleep is Sunday, so recovery was slow. After living that busy for more than two and a half years, one day when I lay down to sleep, my entire nose started throbbing, feeling hot and stuffy. I had never had rhinitis or any allergy problem in my nose in my life, but suddenly I felt something was clearly different. Then the next night before sleep, my nose felt tight and the same symptoms repeated. Was I just too tired? I decided to wait and see a bit more before going to an ENT clinic. Then on the fourth day, after removing my makeup and applying lotion, I suddenly felt the tip of my nose twist, and inside my nose I had this strange experience of the skin seeming to stretch and move here and there. Sweat ran down my back for a moment and I thought, what is this? There’s no inflammatory reaction in my nose, am I just being too sensitive? If I describe the feeling I just felt at the tip of my nose to someone else, what would that even mean? Is this real? I can’t understand it - that feeling came over me immediately. I finally went to both a plastic surgery clinic and an ENT clinic near my home to get checked, because I couldn’t handle it anymore. The ENT clinic said it was an allergic reaction that came with spring, so don’t worry and take medicine. The plastic surgery clinic said there was no suspicion of contracture or inflammation, but if the patient says the body reacts when immunity drops, that can happen, and since something like this had happened once, if I was too worried they could prescribe a contracture-prevention medication or something like that, so I got it. I took it for several days, but even after taking it again and again, it didn’t feel cleanly resolved, and around the time my nose was giving off a strange feeling and about one to one and a half weeks had passed, I started searching online in a rush and gathering information. [My conclusion] After synthesizing opinions from other places as well, I concluded that it was a symptom caused by lowered immunity. Since the part of my body that had undergone the biggest surgery and left a mark was my nose, it seemed correct that when a person’s immune system and condition are poor, the area that reacts immediately is the surgical site. [My direction] Then I had to make two surgical plans. 1) A new nose surgery? 2) Since I had been living with a fake nose for about 16 years, should I finally return to my natural state without regret and do a full removal? That was it. BUT this was the first time I had felt such a strange reaction in my nose, and it left such a strong impression on my mind that I was thinking only about full removal. People around me kept saying I was still at an age where I should care about beauty and maybe I should do a revision, but I... didn’t want to keep opening my nose, and I had a strong feeling that I would end up opening it again someday, so without looking back I completely tied my 마음 to full removal [Hospital visits] 1. (ㅊㅁ) - very confident, said it’s an extremely easy surgery with a 0.1% level, suggested autologous dermis + AlloDerm, and said we could also do a functional nose surgery (covered by insurance). 2. (ㅅㅇ) - the manager here was so nice, said to just think of it as going back to your original nose without any extra thoughts. We’ll just remove everything cleanly. Ask your questions quickly. 3. (ㄱㅇㅅ) - I liked the real doctor-like feeling. They explained things in detail with drawings and were a stable, reassuring doctor. The consultation felt worthwhile and they did as well as I hoped. My columella felt like a naturally sunken type, so they recommended lowering the columella during removal. (At other hospitals too, they said it was a case of a naturally sunken columella, and only this doctor specifically pointed out a plan to lower the columella -_-;;) Think about it until surgery day and decide. The manager felt like a neighborhood older sister. 4. (ㅍㄹㅁ) - They said not to regret going somewhere else, and that if I had surgery with them from the start it would be safe, and talked about putting a support somewhere in the columella and doing full removal. Honestly, compared with what I expected, during the consultation they seemed tired and focused more on self-praise, so I couldn’t really take in the consultation contents and kept thinking, what is this? Then I ended up discussing the surgery details more with the manager. - From the start, when I searched online, I only seriously looked into these 4 places and didn’t even glance at others. - The prices were roughly 440 to 580. - Luckily, I ended up in a situation where the appointment dates and desired surgery date for those 4 hospitals aligned perfectly in my favor. I live in the provinces, so I couldn’t go to Seoul immediately because of work, but everything was still resolved within 2 weeks. Consultation at 2 hospitals one week, consultation at 2 hospitals the next week. And a few days later, I successfully booked the surgery date by phone. If I lived in Seoul, honestly, no lie, I could have done all the consultations in just 2 days and even if I set the surgery date generously, everything would probably have been settled in at least 4 days. - After 4 days of searching and thinking through this community and the internet, I narrowed it down to ㄱㅇㅅ and ㅅㅇ and agonized over it like crazy..... Really, every day. Every moment I kept worrying...... But in my heart, I felt that ㄱㅇㅅ was the doctor with a real doctor-like approach, and I came to feel that if I got surgery there, I wouldn’t regret it. So I booked the surgery right after the 4th day of consultation. [Day of surgery] * I kept the 6-hour fast, went to the hospital, changed clothes, trimmed my nose hair, and had the final consultation with Director ㄱㅇㅅ. Honestly, I had not really paid that much attention to my columella in the past, but I learned about it through this removal consultation. So I found references myself, and said that for these reasons and these details, I still wasn’t fully convinced about the columella-lowering surgery at this moment. I wanted to hear the doctor’s opinion one last time, talk it through, and then decide on the surgical direction. The doctor calmly listened to my opinion and explained things, saying they would operate so that there would not be problems later, but because my concern about my columella was clearly visible, they told me clearly to go with plan 1, the full removal plan, so I could feel at ease and not worry at all. * So I finished the conversation and went into the operating room. Three nurses were assigned: one in charge of disinfecting the face, one in charge of injections and sedation anesthesia, and one in charge of the legs and ECG? breathing and pulse monitoring. I was so nervous and said I wanted to fall asleep quickly, so the doctor put me to sleep in advance, almost timed to when the doctor would arrive. I slept for just a moment and woke up, and the surgery was already done. When I moved to the private room, the director came with a nurse and showed me my old friends - silicone, cartilage, the capsule, and scar tissue - while explaining everything. I thought there wouldn’t be much to remove because I hadn’t had many nose procedures, but there was still more than I expected? ★ The main issues with my nose were that my nostrils were uneven and the cartilage on the right roof of my nose was protruding. I agreed that the nostrils might not be perfectly matched even if they tried as much as possible, and the protruding cartilage on the right roof of my nose was made to disappear completely like magic At another hospital they only said they would smooth the cartilage as much as possible but it would not disappear completely, and the director there also said it couldn’t be fully smoothed but would do their best. But here they really smoothed it all out..... The director also seemed pleased that it smoothed out so well and disappeared entirely, and immediately told me about this in a cheerful way I was so happy. * My face changed much less than expected aside from the nose taping and splint. My face looked so gentle. Calm. No swelling at all.... Huh? Did I really have surgery? Is it just me? After ordinary nose surgery, from the moment you come out there are purple and blue bruises and the eyelids are swollen and everything is a mess, but this time it was just... what is this? * The surgery time was said to be a generous 3 to 4 hours, but even if I assume I went in at 10 o’clock, everything was finished and I was out by 12:40. There was no time to rest in the private room. My condition was also perfectly fine. * Even in the car ride back to the provinces, my face had no swelling at all. Apart from a slight stinging in my nose, there was no pain. My upper front teeth felt a little swollen and sore. Other than that, nothing to worry about. It was still a full removal surgery, so how could it be completely painless? It was only a slight sting or ache... a little bit. [Current situation] I’m taking the prescribed medicine properly, eating three meals a day, and when I sleep I raise the blanket and pillows like crazy, managing diligently while my lower back and shoulder blades ache. The day after surgery, there was a little swelling below the center under the eyes next to the nose, maybe on the cheekbone area? There was a slight yellow bruise. But it really isn’t noticeable. As time goes by, the area that I said was swollen feels very puffy, but still not severe. It feels like I’m slowly becoming a fennec fox Is the swelling medicine I bought a whole bag of from the pharmacy working well? Anyway, I’m eating well and taking good care of myself. [The day I went to remove the splint] I drove again, arrived early the day before, rested at the lodging, slept with a neck pillow elevated. When I went to the hospital to remove the splint, the manager and nurses all asked why my swelling was so low, saying it wasn’t noticeable... So I said, right? Even I think I have very little swelling, but this? The yellow bruise is understandable, and it would be stranger if even that were not there Then I went in to remove the splint. ★★★ I have a lot to say here! Is it like this at other hospitals too? Why didn’t anyone who went to ㄱㅇㅅ tell me? When removing the splint... it’s not the kind of splint that comes off gently after ordinary nose surgery, but instead it’s torn off with force like ripping off something stuck to adhesive, and I really screamed and cried... The nurse wiped my tears, and we chatted while she said the splint removal is the most painful If you remove it slowly, it becomes even more painful and difficult for the patient, so that’s not good... So I said, then if they rip it off like that, is my nose okay without moving? Wow... wow... this is... really something I never expected, and while saying that, the nurse laughed, another one came in, and we chatted and laughed together. Then they gave me an antibiotic injection in my arm, but I couldn’t tell whether it was in or not;;; Because of removing the splint, all of my senses were gone. Please prepare yourselves when going to remove the splint, everyone.... Apparently that’s how it is... but it really hurt... scary splint (-_-)'' I really told you all that It’s okay to cry... tears will come out no matter what And then the director came in and said there was blood pooled between my eyebrows and it had to be drained...... -_- Huh? But that was also okay. Why? Because I can’t feel anything... They inserted a needle between my brows and drained the blood, and by then I’d already gotten used to it... There was no point in saying it hurt After a brief goodbye with the director, I received the so-called swelling laser for about 20 minutes and the treatment ended. Even after just removing the splint, I was so happy that people at rest stops or elsewhere didn’t recognize me as much After removing the nose tape too, I was in a state where I wondered if this was really okay. Even in the car going back to the provinces, I kept looking at my nose, comparing it, and taking photos, and there was zero swelling. Only a slight yellow bruise on the bridge of the nose. Personally, I’m very satisfied with how well the surgery turned out. Whether the bridge became lower or not is not important. I just became the type of person who thinks it’s enough if it looks like a normal human nose and has no functional problems. [Final day of suture removal] Again, I arrived in advance by car the day before, ate and went out, then went to the hospital in the afternoon to remove the stitches. That also stung a little... The nurse said that no wonder even the dissolvable stitches inside hadn’t dissolved, because of how gently I’d been applying the ointment... I did apply it gently, but not so gently that it wouldn’t dissolve, so why is that? We kept chatting again. Since I was feeling a little pain, the nurse got even more nervous while removing the stitches and carefully did it very gently for me My nose feels even drier, so what should I do? Should I apply more ointment? Should I use a different ointment for the columella area? We talked about ordinary daily things, and they responded to everything and tried to help, being really kind Thank you! It honestly took more than 20 minutes to remove the stitches? Anyway, thanks to the nurse who carefully took care of the stitches, I finished on a good note! The director came in and we thanked each other, laughed, talked, and made a promise to see each other again in a month, then shouted goodbye. In the middle of this, the nurse gave me a very thick and large injection, whether it was antibiotics or something else! I chatted a lot with the manager, set the schedule for checking my progress a month later, and came back down after a long talk. Then I saw in another post that the director also teaches nose massage methods, so why didn’t they tell me? They said it was probably because there was no need for massage in my case^^;; Huh? What a healthy nose! When I asked when I could start swimming during my vacation, they said 2 and a half weeks after surgery is stable, and conservatively 3 weeks, but if I’m not going to keep dunking my face in water and playing around, it’s okay even now When I asked if it was okay to lean forward to wash my hair... because I saw other posts saying the nose could be pulled and it hurt or was difficult... the manager said I can do it.. you’re fine But I had been cleaning the house and bending my head down since the day after surgery, and my nose didn’t get pulled even a little... Even when I slept, I turned my head to the side unconsciously and it was fine.. So I agreed when I heard about washing my hair... but I’m a coward, so I’ll keep washing my hair with my head tilted back for a while * As of today, my nose is one week post-op. My condition and state are good. I’ve seen posts asking about the nose lifting up, contraction phase, and things like that, and here’s what I think. First, the surgery at the hospital I chose seems to have gone well, and even if what I’m experiencing is part of a contraction phase, that’s something that can happen 충분히 during the healing process, so I think I’d have to experience it first to know. The columella turned out better than I expected, and the stitches in the columella area healed well without any issues (Ah. I forgot, but 5 days before surgery I got herpes on the left nostril? I thought it would be gone by the time of surgery, but it didn’t go away --;; So I ran it through ChatGPT and it said I should tell the hospital right away, because if it were close to the surgical area they couldn’t do the surgery So when the manager called the day before, I talked about it and the manager said that since it wasn’t oozing right now and it was on the left nostril and in the stage of forming a scab, it was possible, so I felt relieved and went up to Seoul the day before;; I was really shocked because I thought I might not be able to have surgery..) * The bridge had silicone 3.4 mm in it, and it didn’t sink much, and even if it sank more I think that would be because my original bridge was low. But the director said it probably wouldn’t go down any further and told me not to worry about the bridge, so in my view, if it doesn’t go down any further from here, then hey, my original nose bridge is still way higher than before. Nice~ That’s where I’m at. I’m not in a very pigeon-like nose state, but the tip does feel a bit thick, and they said the subtle swelling will take a month to go down, so I’m just taking it as it comes. The bridge hurts a little when I press it gently with my hand, and there’s just a very slight yellow bruise on that bridge area, but no swelling at all... After removing the nose, I feel like my face became a little gentler? My original nose wasn’t flashy or super high or refined or anything like that either, and it was so natural that others probably wouldn’t even know I had surgery, but looking in the mirror now, it feels somehow softer * I’ve written this for about an hour from memory, so I’m not sure if it was helpful What I felt most strongly through the removal is probably this. 1. Have conviction and trust in the hospital you chose and proceed. (As you go to consultations or re-consultations and visit different hospitals, there will be places you’re drawn to, and in the end there will come a moment when you have to choose a hospital based on some standard. At that moment, I think you need the strong mindset to trust your own decision and not be shaken. When deciding on a hospital, I hope you don’t worry based on other people’s opinions or other people’s standards. It’s good to hear and collect a lot of information. But as you can see from this post, there is no hospital that is 100% satisfying or perfect, and there seem to be case-by-case differences depending on the surgery. To put it simply, what we all want is for the surgery not to fail and to go well, right? So please look up hospital information properly, but don’t rely on others; set your own 기준 and judge by that.) 2. Keep that mindset all the way through when doing a full removal. (After full removal, people may become mentally distressed, feel regret, or later undergo revision surgery again... Of course, those are the needs and satisfaction of each person, so I’m not criticizing them. But I think the point where you’ve gone through hardship and reached the very end is full removal. I hope you can lower the standard of beauty a little and add mental health and emotional health to it, broadening your perspective!) 3. For any surgery, make sure you look into it properly first, study it, and find the right hospital for it! (Just as I said above. And whatever it is, if you’re thinking about surgery, don’t be excessive and don’t be greedy. In the end, the choice is yours, so think carefully and decide^^ People want to look pretty and stylish, and also want to fix what looks bad... There will be moments like that in life.
