Review & experience written 1 year after double-jaw surgery

*Using informal abbreviated style I was 22 years old at the time of surgery, and I had an appearance complex about having a protruding lower jaw. I spent over a month looking into hospitals, and had surgery in July 2022. -Hospital review (please keep in mind this is the writer's subjective opinion!) Pros 1. Since they run a YouTube channel, there is less need to go all the way to Seoul in person to check things you are curious about. (Still, if there is something you want to know for sure, write down what questions to ask and bring them.) 2. For most of the consultation, you will spend time with the consultant manager, and I felt she had a lot of experience because she clearly pointed out the key parts that many people worry about. 3. As someone living outside Seoul, I judged that having surgery in Seoul would be more reliable, and I thought it was good that everyone treated me kindly during examinations and the various preparations before surgery. Cons 1. Maybe because the hospital is located in central Seoul, even with a reservation, there were many times when consultations and postoperative follow-up checks were delayed. (As long as over 1 hour.) 2. If you live in Seoul/Gyeonggi or a nearby area, going to the hospital may not be a big burden, but if you live somewhat far away, the time and transportation costs are no joke. (I used an intercity bus + subway, and transportation costs up to the 1-year mark came to 900,000 won.) - Surgery review 1. I had a serious complex about my appearance, so even on the day of surgery I went into the operating room half nervous and half happy. 2. You stay hospitalized for one day after surgery, and I kept passing out and waking up, and since I hadn't eaten anything, this was the hardest time and mentally draining. 3. For a while I had to sleep sitting up, and for 4 weeks I had to eat water, drinks, and porridge, but I lost a lot of weight, so it also had a dieting effect. Two birds with one stone. 4. After removing the compression bandage, I had to practice opening my mouth, and I remember that this was also painful and difficult. 5. Until day 60 after surgery, I mostly ate porridge, and after that I started trying soft foods. 6. Following the director's diagnosis that I could start orthodontic treatment after surgery, I began orthodontics in September 2022, but even after starting braces, my teeth throbbed, so I think it was hard for 2 months. 7. At half a year after surgery, a lot of the swelling had gone down, and I gradually heard a lot from people around me that my appearance seemed to have changed a lot. 8. The biggest difference I felt after surgery was when I entered the 9-month mark. The face that made me wonder whether my jaw had gone in too much after surgery gradually started to look natural, and even when I styled myself, my jaw did not stand out, so my satisfaction with the surgery hit max. 9. It has been 1 year and 2 months since surgery, and the biggest change is that my mindset has changed. Unlike in the past, the habit of closing my mouth while slightly separating my upper and lower teeth to hide my protruding lower jaw disappeared at some point, and I developed an interest in styling myself, such as hair/clothing styling. Lastly, I am living satisfied with my current face shape, and since my mindset has also become quite positive, my overall quality of life has improved.
