LASEK for extremely high myopia and astigmatism at Seoul Yonsei Eye Clinic

I had my surgery around mid-January last year. I originally had extremely high myopia plus astigmatism, so I was afraid another place might say I couldn't have surgery, so from the start I looked for a hospital that does a lot of surgery for extremely high myopia and went there. I didn't go around to compare places separately; I only went here, but fortunately they said surgery was possible. They said my cornea was of average thickness, neither especially thick nor thin, but because my vision was so bad, they would have to remove a lot of corneal tissue. So they said a second surgery would probably be difficult, and I was told LASIK would not be possible either, and that phakic IOL implantation was also not possible because the space inside my eye was too narrow. A friend who came with me had surgery on the same day too, and because her eyesight was better than mine and her corneas were thicker, they said she might be able to have surgery one more time later if her vision declines. I don't remember the exact lens, but I think I took it out for about a week before the surgery. As soon as I came out after the surgery, I could see well, which was really amazing. But for about 3 to 4 days, it hurt so much that I could barely open my eyes properly. It may vary from person to person, but that period was the hardest for me. Honestly, I'm not sure about dry eye. I was already a person who wore contacts for 12 hours a day, so my eyes were already dry, so I don't really know whether the surgery made it worse. That said, in winter, if I open my eyes too forcefully in the morning, sometimes tears just stream down and it stings like my eyeball is being pulled apart, but it gets better after a while. It was also convenient that I could buy the post-op UV-protection glasses right away at the eyeglass shop in the same building. I thought I would use them diligently, but in reality I only used them for about 2 weeks and then stopped haha. Overall I was satisfied with the hospital. The director was kind and explained things well, and the staff at the counter were also good at handling patients. However, the people who did the tests seemed a little busy and mechanical, probably because there were so many patients. They weren't rude, but they also didn't feel extremely friendly. Still, in the end, I'm really satisfied. I would even say it was one of the best decisions of my life. Being able to see immediately without glasses or contacts is still so convenient, and if I could go back, I would still choose to have the surgery.
