Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

It has been 1 month since I had jaw surgery with Director Shin Hee-jin at Iyu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery!

Since I was young, I have had stress about my malocclusion and facial shape, and I also felt discomfort when chewing food. In particular, every time I took a photo, I kept noticing the asymmetry and lower face, so I decided to undergo jaw surgery because I wanted to improve it properly before it got even later. I visited several hospitals and thought about it very carefully, but after a consultation with Director Shin Hee-jin at Iyu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, I felt the most trust. She explained my current condition and the necessary surgical direction realistically without overdoing it, and she advised me toward a natural change, which put me at ease. The explanation of the post-op management system and recovery process was also systematic, so I decided to trust them and go ahead with surgery. It has already been 1 month since the operation, and looking back now, I think the early recovery period was the time when I felt most strongly that time is the best medicine. Right after surgery, as I woke up from general anesthesia, my stomach felt bloated and my mind was foggy, so I kept getting sleepy, and my mouth and throat were so dry that even falling asleep was not easy. I had to keep wiping away nosebleeds, so I kept waking up repeatedly even while sleeping, but day by day my condition started to recover little by little, and with consistent cold compresses, walks, and wearing the compression garment, the swelling gradually became visibly smaller. Especially from around the second week, my mouth started opening little by little, and as I kept doing mouth-opening exercises and jaw exercises, I could feel my recovery speed improving noticeably. I still avoid chewy or hard foods and mainly eat soft foods, but compared with the beginning, the inconvenience in daily life has really decreased. As of the 1-month mark, it still feels like there is swelling under the skin, but the large visible swelling has gone down a lot, and my facial lines feel much more refined than before. I can still only fit about two fingers in my mouth, so if I chew for a long time there is still a slight pulling feeling, but I have recovered to the point where daily life is almost possible, and above all, my face keeps feeling more natural as time passes, so I’m looking forward to the changes ahead!
