Nose Surgery Reviews

Revision surgery day 7: 3D custom silicone + autologous costal cartilage revision, finally removed the splint!

After the first surgery, as time passed, the silicone shifted to the left, and from the front my nostrils did not come together, which caused a lot of stress. From the side, the columella had sunk in, making only the alar area stand out, so I ultimately decided on revision surgery. After comparing several hospitals, I had a CT scan here and found out precisely that one side of my nasal bone was lower. It was not just about changing the implant; the fact that they would proceed with 3D custom silicone tailored to my own structure, and that Dr. Kim Dae-hwa at Lowell would consult with me while considering what I wanted and facial harmony, gave me confidence and I decided to have the surgery. On the day of surgery the pain was mild, but on days 2 to 3 the swelling and bruising around the eyes peaked. More than the nose itself, the autologous costal cartilage harvest site felt sore whenever I moved, and because of the packing inside my nose I had to breathe through my mouth, so it was hard to get proper sleep. I got through to day 3 by diligently using cold compresses and taking pumpkin juice and swelling-management products. Once the nasal packing was removed, I could breathe again. I visited the hospital every two days for swelling laser treatment and postoperative nose care, and they checked everything so carefully that I felt really reassured psychologically. With warm compresses and light walks, I could see my facial lines being refined day by day. Today, they finally removed the splint I had been waiting for the most. Even though there is still a lot of swelling, the crooked feeling I worried about before and the front view line are visibly more organized. In particular, from the side, the columella comes down naturally, and I really like the line connecting the tip of the nose and the lips. Before, when I looked at my nose, only the alar area stood out, but now it feels like the overall balance has been achieved. It has only been one week, so I’m looking forward to how it will settle as the swelling goes down further.
