One-Month Review After First Surgery for a Bulbous Nose

In my usual nose shape, the nostrils drooped when viewed from the front, so no matter how hard I tried to contour with makeup, I could not get rid of my nose's distinctive round, bulbous feeling, and that was my biggest complex. Even while going around for consultations after deciding to have surgery, I had a lot of worries. (I did not want a first-surgery nose that looked overly dramatic.)

Director Lee Ji-hwan accurately understood what I needed, and rather than pushing me into an excessive or unreasonable procedure, he did not recommend anything over the top, which built a lot of trust. I actually liked how he gave me honest feedback only within the range of what was possible for my nose.

Instead of a standard silicone implant, I had a custom implant made to fit my bone exactly, and I really think it was the right choice. I did not greedily ask for an unnaturally high bridge and went with 2.4 mm, so thanks to that it was completed very naturally without any artificial look, like it was truly my own nose. For the tip, septal cartilage and ear cartilage were used, and because my nose was a bit short, columella lengthening was done as well to correct the short nose.

The biggest concerns for me were the bulbous tip and wide nostrils, and both were reduced, so compared with before, the round feeling from the front is definitely less noticeable. To be honest, right after surgery I could not really tell the difference because of the swelling, but it really does seem true that a nose changes shape every day. I am also waiting for my nose once all the residual swelling goes down.

Since this was my first surgery, I did a huge amount of research. I was worried after reading posts saying people could not breathe well or had severe side effects after surgery, but once I actually had the surgery and the packing inside my nose was removed, so far I have had no problems breathing at all. It really seems that choosing a safety-first approach is the right thing.

The director and the hospital staff were all very kind. Before surgery, they kindly answered everything I was curious about, and even during aftercare they responded carefully until the end.

In conclusion, rather than a dramatic or artificial change, the surgery gave me the feeling that only the weaknesses of my original nose were corrected naturally. I hope this review helps people like me who want a natural-looking nose correction that feels like it has always been their own nose.
