One-month review after nose removal at [Clinic A]

This is my previous post, and it includes my consultation history and surgery history. This post only covers what happened after surgery. I will write down the things that people considering removal, and people waiting for recovery after removal, might want to know. It is a mix of information I got from different places, my own experience, and my own guesswork, so please use it only as a reference. 1. Were there any side effects after removal? (upturned, drooping, saddle nose, pain, etc.) - This is probably the part people worry about most. I had a nose that included septal extension and had the whole thing removed, but I did not have side effects like an upturned nose, drooping, or saddle nose. I wanted a nose that left nothing behind, so I did not do any reinforcement either, since I did not need it functionally and I did not want anything left aesthetically either. 2. What got better after removal - The numbness on the bridge of my nose that came after nose surgery, and the foreign-body sensation from the extension, both disappeared completely as soon as I woke up after removal. It felt so refreshing. 3. Whether I used nose packing or a splint - I did not. But I was told it can depend on the patient's nose condition, such as when there is a lot of bleeding or the nose is in very poor condition. 4. Open or closed - It was a full removal and was done open. 5. About the contraction phase - Before removal, I saw a lot of posts about the contraction phase, so I knew such a thing existed, but once I actually had the removal, I do not really understand the contraction phase well. I think the more elaborate the nose was likely to be, the larger the range of contraction during the healing process after removal, especially in cases where there is a big difference between the original nose and the surgical nose, noses with a lot of manipulation, or early removal. 6. About swelling - It definitely feels like removal surgery swells less than nose surgery and puts less strain on the nose itself. The swelling also went down much faster. As for when social life becomes possible, it depends on the person, but for me it reached a point where I could go back to social life around week 1. But the worry was not the swelling or appearance itself; it was more that if I happened to bump my nose while out, or when meeting people I would need to smile and make expressions, so I was worried about aggravating it. By week 2, I had a lot of appointments with people, and surprisingly nobody noticed. 7. Difference between original nose, surgical nose, and removal nose - First of all, from week 2 to week 3 after removal, it still felt closer to the surgical nose even though it had been removed. The ratio felt like original nose 20, surgical nose 80. Now, one month later, I feel the ratio of original nose increasing every morning when I wake up. Original nose 45, surgical nose 55. After this, I think it will go to something like original nose 50 to 55, surgical nose 50 to 45. This is based on my current state, though, and if more months or years pass and the tissue loosens and stabilizes further, it may even go to over 80 percent original nose. Still, I think it is impossible to go back to exactly 100 percent the original nose. That is both good and bad. Even after removal, it does not spread out as much as my original nose, so the feeling of a wide nose is gone. But it does not have the fully natural feeling of the original nose. Overall: a neater nose than the original. 8. Rumor going around: if you remove it at [Clinic A], does your nose become big and puffy? - I was worried about this before surgery too, and since everyone seems to worry about it, I want to share my opinion from having had the removal. It depends on the nose, but personally I did not feel that it became big and puffy at all. If anything, it is slimmer than my original nose. This seems to apply not only to [Clinic A] but to removal surgery in general. Maybe I was so used to the sharpness of the surgical nose that I felt the removed nose looked fat, or maybe my original nose was already on the wider side and I had forgotten. In the first place, if the removal surgery is done properly, I think it is harder for the nose to spread out more than the original nose. It would be better not to buy unnecessary worry. And removal means removal, literally. It is not a surgery to make you prettier, so you should not expect to make the shape more glamorous. + Also, a side note about [Clinic A]: they may sound a little intimidating and say they do not know how it will turn out, but once the patient is clearly determined and firmly wants removal regardless of the outcome, I felt they were extremely good about it. They were kind. In fact, they handled various issues during surgery very confidently and decisively. On the other hand, if a patient is unsure about removal, unsure about reoperation, and wavering themselves, they do not seem to like that very much. Not because they dislike the patient as a person, but because the final choice is for the patient to make, and they seem to avoid situations where the doctor recommends surgery even though the patient has no certainty. Of course, there may be people who want the doctor to make the decision together with them, and there will be doctors suited to that too. I just think the style is different. In my case, it matched well. 9. Skin or pores after removal - There is talk that the skin stretches and becomes wrinkled after removal, but I do not know. My pores are the same too. 10. To finish After removing my nose, I felt so mentally at ease that I gained 5 kg in a month. Ever since the nose surgery, there was not a single day when I slept in peace, but now I finally sleep properly. Both the nose itself and the decision about removal were hard, but once I made the decision, I was able to steel myself. Removal is not a surgery that makes you prettier, but it is not a surgery that ruins you either. If you are prepared to accept the result, you can escape nose anxiety. As I said in my previous post, if you are considering removal or waiting for the course after removal, do not keep checking the community often. I recommend not looking at it at all if possible. Especially if you are easily influenced or worry a lot, you will end up gaining only anxiety compared with the information you can get. You need to think about your own nose yourself and listen to the doctor at the hospital. It is worst to look at other people's cases here and then get lost in your own thoughts.
