[Public Interest] Progress of inflammation neglect and capsular contracture after autologous costal cartilage nose revision at a private clinic near Gangnam Station (doctor admitting fault on recording)

I had a nose revision with autologous costal cartilage at a private plastic surgery clinic near Gangnam Station, but because of the clinic’s careless response and delayed bacterial testing, I now have capsular contracture and an upturned nose.. I really do not want to live like this. When it comes to nose surgery, you really have to choose the clinic carefully.. If you do not want to end up like me, where poor handling after choosing based only on aesthetics led to contracture, I am writing out a timeline with only facts, hoping that many of you who visit private clinics near Gangnam Station instead of big factory-style hospitals will really check how sloppy their complication handling is and avoid them. (This is not intended to defame any specific clinic at all, and is only a public-interest post sharing information for everyone’s safety.)1. Event timeline and complication timeline (about 6 million won in surgery costs)• Day of surgery (March 24, 2026): Nose surgery with autologous costal cartilage performed at a private plastic surgery clinic in Gangnam Station area.• 2 weeks after surgery (April 8): The bridge of my nose swelled up like an animal face. A unique, stabbing pain persisted at the tip area that had been lifted with autologous costal cartilage. The day after the internal nasal sutures were removed (April 7), acute inflammation and pus burst out from the surgical site, so I started taking antibiotics.• For 2 weeks after the inflammation started: Pus kept draining continuously from the suture site inside the nose. Even though my nose kept feeling tight and pulled upward, the clinic kept changing me to different antibiotics that were not even effective, without doing any test to find the causative bacteria.• One month after surgery: While my nose was being neglected because of the wrong antibiotics, the inflammation spiraled out of control and became chronic. In the end, a bacterial culture test was finally done late, and the silicone was removed before the culture result even came back.• One week after removal: Even after the silicone was removed, pus was still coming out, so I contacted the clinic. They said the culture result would come out in 3 days. Three days later, the antibiotic was changed to one matched to the bacteria. Two weeks after removal: the amount of pus decreased, but my nose felt severely pulled and lifted, and contracture began to appear.Currently (2 months after surgery, May 24): no pus, the inside opening of the nose has not fully healed / severe contracture2. Signs of inadequate handling and negligence on the clinic’s part• Surgeon admitting possible fault: During follow-up, the head doctor said directly to me. He said with his own mouth, "The pain that occurred in the part where the tip was lifted with autologous costal cartilage may have been the cause of this inflammation." The surgeon himself acknowledged that the inflammation was likely caused by a factor related to the surgery itself.• Ridiculous misdiagnosis and reversal during sedation anesthesia: I sent a KakaoTalk message saying pus was coming out from the place where the internal nasal sutures were removed, came in, and pointed out the exact area in person, but they did not actively examine it. They made me fast and even gave me sedation anesthesia because they said they had to wash it out surgically, but when I woke up they said, "When we actually opened it, there was no pus, so we just woke you up," and sent me straight home. It was absurd.• Critically missed bacterial testing during the first 2 weeks: If inflammation bursts out, common sense says they should immediately do a culture test to identify the causative bacteria, right? But because they delayed the test for 2 full weeks, my nose was left neglected while taking only the wrong antibiotics that did not even match the causative bacteria, and during that golden time the inflammation became chronic, eventually damaging all the nasal tissue.3. My current condition and the extent of the damage• Structural deformity of the nose (contracture in progress): As a result of being left untreated while the wrong antibiotics were used during the early inflammation period, the tissue at the tip of my nose has become hard and stiff and has clearly been pulled upward, causing obvious contracture. Every time I look in the mirror, the pulling pain and deformity make normal life impossible. (I have already visited several ENT and plastic surgery clinics at other hospitals and confirmed the contracture findings.)• Permanent bodily damage: The autologous costal cartilage harvested by cutting my own flesh was not even usable to maintain the shape of my nose because of inflammation, and I am left with a large permanent scar on my chest from the autologous cartilage harvest, so I am likely to have to spend even more on additional scar treatment.• Side effects from long-term use of strong medication: For two months straight I have been living on strong antibiotics plus a contracture-prevention drug (Rizaben), and the gastrointestinal problems and loss of stamina are so severe that I can really feel them. I cannot work at all.4. The clinic’s current attitude and essential tips for everyoneThe clinic is now saying that the surgery itself went normally and that a 100% refund of the surgery fee is absolutely impossible, acting as if they are in the right. They even said they would rather apply to the Korea Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Agency themselves, so I am also preparing to settle the facts properly before the official investigators, with all medical records, the culture test, before-and-after photos, and the recording admitting fault all secured.If after nose surgery you feel stabbing pain at the tip of the nose, or you see discharge or pus at the suture site, do not just trust the antibiotics the clinic gives you and never wait. Demand that they do a causative-bacteria test (culture test) on the very same day or at the earliest possible stage. If you believe the clinic’s careless words and let a week or two pass while using the wrong antibiotics, you will miss the golden time completely and end up suffering the same contracture complication as me, with the nose pulled upward.(※ I do not want to get tangled up in medical law or defamation, so I will not mention the clinic initials or the doctor’s real name in the main text.
